Study With Midnight Noise & Tomer Baruch

Saturn's Rings Hotel & Spa

This album plays like an invitation rather than a record - a slow boarding pass to an imagined retreat somewhere beyond gravity. Analogue synths shimmer like gold, bubbling rhythms drift in gentle orbits, and playful melodies sketch out distant galaxies with an easy, unforced charm. There's a strong lineage here, with the music echoing classic library and soundtrack recordings cherished by deep diggers, yet it never feels nostalgic for its own sake. The grooves are light but nourishing - 'Uranium Jungle' has a touch of Luke Vibert's frisky funk about it, while 'Martian Sunset' is interstellar bossa nova with a light dusting of 70s analogue magic to boot - designed as much for sofa-bound drifting as for attentive listening. Musicianship is front and centre throughout, with smart, accessible compositions that reward repeat visits. A fully realised concept - sign us up for a stay.

Vuvuvu Feat. Mervealice

Keyif

This latest Ma Ze Music release thrives on chemistry and colour. A tight, heavy-limbed groove anchors the VuVuVu & Mervalice single 'Keyif' with punchy drums, gluey synths and fuzzed guitar lines spiralling into psychedelic funk territory. Over the top, Mervealice's voice brings warmth and soul while cutting through the haze with effortless authority. What began as a spark of shared intuition between artists quickly becomes something richer, folding Middle Eastern rhythmic sensibilities into a modern psych-funk framework. The result is spontaneous and well-tuned, equally hypnotic in its vocal form and stripped-back instrumental.

Yanuka

Hashrika / No Tomorrow

Yanuka is the solo project of acclaimed keyboardist, composer and producer Tomer Zuk and here he makes his debut on Ma Ze Music with Hashrika and No Tomorrow. Known for his cinematic touch and eclectic style, Zuk blends Middle Eastern motifs, hypnotic grooves, and meditative atmospheres into what feels like a modern-day Morricone from the desert. There are psyched out 60s elements, Library music overtones, funk, soul and jazz instrumentals and great sound designs all bringing these two mysterious and enchanting sounds alive. The first is a late-night wander that echoes Khrangbuin and the second is all wah-wah magic and slick, rolling rhythms.

Youarei & Wandara

Mangal - Incl. UV & Nenor Remix

Berlin based producer and trombonist Youarei (Uri Selinger) and producer/instrumentalist Wandara (Idan Amos) team up on this increasingly unmissable label's third release, a slow motion dark disco affair that rumbles like stormy skies, complete with eerie pitched down vocals giving it a truly chilling edge. Flip it over and you'll find 'Mangal Remangaled', the remix from Ma Ze regulars UV & Nenor, adding more hypnotic chug to its atmosphere and some 'live voodoo drums' without compromising an inch of the original's spooky charm/menace. Bad juju, but of the very best kind.

STAFF COMMENTS

Mine says: Ma Ze follow up two excellent singles with another buy on sight 7" in the form of a first class cosmic wobbler. Creepy as hell and not one to be missed!
