I Never Learn - 10th Anniversary Edition

Lykke Li will reissue her 2014 album ‘I Never Learn’ to celebrate the 10th anniversary of this classic of fan-favorite heartbreak pop.

As every true Li fan knows, this is the album you rinse. “I Never Learn” cemented Li’s status as an iconic songwriter, earning her the title High Priestess of Heartbreak. These are songs “for the times when heartbreak is so life-affirming that you want to share the feeling with the world” (Pitchfork, Best New Music). It’s a “gloriously raw” album (Rolling Stone), “epic and incredibly intimate” (Stereogum), “extraordinary as both a collection of songs and a tactical re-wiring of her genre's circuit board” (NPR).

Written with her longtime collaborator Bjorn Yttling, “I Never Learn” was the final installment of the trilogy that started with ‘Youth Novels’ in 2008 and ‘Wounded Rhymes’ in 2011. It went on to achieve a whole host of accolades, including Album of the Year lists around the world: Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Vulture, Billboard, Complex, and others. Li released a remix of the lead single “No Rest for the Wicked” featuring ASAP Rocky.

    EYEYE

Lykke Li returns with her fifth studio album EYEYE. The LP is an eight track story about lust, attraction, attachment, and rejection; the landscape of love. The songs are inhabited by moving images that neither start nor end. Each film functions as a visual loop, concise as a haiku, yet continuing in perpetuity. The result is a somatic, repetitious experience. Compounding chapters between a dream and reality.

Lykke Li creates connection with the depth of emotion in her lyrics and her consistency has made her an iconic staple in music with a decade spanning career having created her own lane when it comes to genre and songwriting. In addition to selling out shows across the world, she has performed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Conan, Jools Holland, and received praise from The New York Times, NPR, Pitchfork, The Fader, Complex, Rolling Stone and more. Last year, Lykke featured on Mark Ronson’s critically acclaimed single “Late Night Feelings” and joined him for a live performance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Outside of music, she starred in the Terrence Malick film Song to Song and also co-founded the female owned Yola Mezcal brand, which brought the inaugural all-female music and arts festival Yola Día to Los Angeles and featured performances from Megan Thee Stallion, Cat Power, and Courtney Love.

It’s four years since Lykke Li’s last album and the Swedish pop singer has changed her tune. Never one to shy away from experimentation, she has re-emerged with a synth-pop and trap-tinged album called so sad so sexy. The music is both of those things.

It still has Li’s devastatingly beautiful heartbreak songs juxtaposed with R&B romp-heavy tracks. The sonic diversity of the record is due in part to Li working with longtime collaborators Malay, Jeff Bhasker and T-Minus, but expanded with the help of Skrillex, Emile Haynie, DJ Dahi and Jonny Coffer.

        I Never Learn

Swedish singer-songwriter Lykke Li releases her third studio album – the follow up to 2011’s critically-acclaimed “Wounded Rhymes”. Co-produced by long-time collaborator Björn Yttling, Greg Kurstin and for the first time by Lykke herself, “I Never Learn” is the third and final part in a trilogy. Taking inspiration from her LA surroundings where much of the record was recorded, Lykke commented, ‘Every song on the album is a power ballad. Like one of those old radio stations. This is a slow dance; a slow burner.’ With song titles like ‘Never Gonna Love Again’, ‘Sleeping Alone’ and ‘Heart of Steel’, “I Never Learn” was inspired by a recent heartbreak and Lykke’s songwriting is all the more devastating for it.

          Youth Novels

Fresh from recent triumphs at SXSW, and riding a sizeable wave of good will and expectation following the release of her debut single "Little Bit" on 7" label Moshi Singles back in February, Lykke Li releases her debut album. Recorded with Peter & John's Bjorn Yttling over the last 10 months, "Youth Novels" weaves its way through 14 perfectly realised chapters. You'll hear harpsichords, flutes, and theremins throughout the album but you'll also hear Lykke Li's magnificently brittle, candy coated vocals. The record is like a well-thumbed paperback which falls open, again and again, on the same pages: love, loneliness, frustration and obsession. The chronicles of Lykke's life so far, told with unusual honesty. It includes recent single "Little Bit", continues with the punchy throb of "I'm Good I'm Gone", and brilliant tracks like reluctant break-up anthem "Breaking It Up", "Let It Fall" and "Hanging High". Throughout, there's a sense of momentum and a pursuit of some unobtainable goal. 'I don't think I'll ever be satisfied and calm,' Lykke Li admits. 'Even now I wonder how I'm going to live a whole lifetime, feeling how I do now…'
