Trying To Find My Woman / Give It Up

Two more floor-friendly 45s from the Deptford Northern Soul Club’s record box.

Featuring fifty quid’s worth of excellent brasspowered psyche soul that originally turned up on Buddah Records in 1969. An absolutely huge Blackpool Mecca 45 with a backflip moment at around 40 seconds that repeats for all stomping excessives.

Backed with the legendary Lee Dorsey’s mighty ‘Give It Up’ from the same year. A swampy soul stew with a funky feel by the hugely underrated singer. An Allen Toussaint

    I'm In Need Of Love

Lou’s Epic 1974 album “I’m In Need of Love” is regarded by some as the best modern soul album ever made. Best known for the rare groove tracks “I Don’t Need Nobody Else” and “What Do You Want Me To Do”, this is New York soul at its best. Great strings, horns and sympathetic production back Lou’s emotive and soulful vocals expressing his lyrics to the full. Soul Brother first reissued this album in 1999, and nearly two decades later it’s back in demand again. Lou was a Detroit artist who established himself in the 60s where he first worked as a writer and producer with Barbara Lewis. In the 70s he was signed as an artist to legendary producer Jerry Ragovoy’s Rags label through Epic. Hereafter he was briefly a member of The Fifth Dimension.
