Stepmother

Absurdus Manifestus

Spearheaded by legendary underground guitarist Graham Clise, the trio return with a sharper blade and heavier boot following their 2023 debut, ‘Planet Brutalicon’… channelling raw rock’n’roll urgency into feral anthems for society’s poor, depraved, and proudly miscreant, ‘Absurdus Manifestus’ heralds the long overdue return of legendary Oz-outliers, Stepmother. Fusing high velocity Motor City proto punk with fuzz, feedback and electric psych, the band draw once more upon the spirit of Blue Cheer, The Pink Fairies, Nervous Eaters, The Damned, to wield hardened punk and nefarious nihilism, to confront the absurdity, violence, and dark comedy of modern existence. The first single from their latest call to arms is ‘New World’. Capturing the band at their most relentless and confrontational as Clise points out: “If this disappointing, hazardous sci-fi reality we live in wasn’t enough of a bludgeoning, here’s yet another boot up the arse with our take on a psych-punk dystopian anthem…” Additional tracks will further showcase the band’s unhinged range. ‘Slice Of Life’ blurs the fine line between total focus and all-out chaos, an unpolished stomper equally suited to shaking your ass or kicking holes in the wall, depending on your preference. Whereas ‘What’s New?’ is a pub-rock rager packed with unrelenting rudeness and rapid-fire, razor-slashing riffs, delivering hyperactive proto-punk that laughs at the absurdity and pointlessness everything. In support of the album, Stepmother also tour Europe throughout June and while there’s no doubt that the band will carve a mark in the annals of rock history with new LP, the big question is, will you be joining them along for the ride?

Hedge Burners

Fall Out Of The Future

Hedge Burners was born winter 2024 in Rye, when two pairs of mates collided at the right time - Jackson Allen, Arron Mawson, Shaun Gionis, Steph Hughes - a mixture of new friendships and decades long musical bonds - there was a rich catalogue of unfinished jams and ideas - their shared approaches creating a treasure map of sounds and experiments.

With mutual influences, endless voice memos, a rehearsal space under the house and some sun, and water - the scrapbook of sounds over time formed into fully fledged songs, and the band into a unit. The energy of the initial sketches continuing into the band's easy connection, and their figuring out of the stories in the sounds.

There's a familiar yet unique blend of rock n roll, country and punk, and a shared enjoyment in making stuff from scratch. They follow their noses, and keep mystery in the mix.

C.O.F.F.I.N

Piss~Up - 2025 Repress

Seven years ago C.O.F.F.I.N would enter Pet Food Factory 2.0 to record their seminal album 'Piss~Up'.

They would be one of the first bands to record in the newly self-built studio run by Jason Whalley and would mark the beginnings of a lasting relationship between Jay and the band.

Featuring Ben Ulitzka Portnoy (vocals + drums), Abijah Rado (lead guitars + lap steel), Arthur Devo Flanders (guitars), Laurence Adams (bass), Ivor Rigney (yidaki / didge), and Aaron Moss (guest guitar) - the resulting record would unveil the band’s early explorations of grief, racism, mindless destruction, violence, and confrontations with Australian archetypes of manhood. With standout tracks: 'White Dog', 'Locals Only', 'Between The Flags', 'Done By The Dogs'.

Rather than announcing authority on these themes, 'Piss~Up' reflected on the band’s positions within them, the challenge of recognising their own contributions, and the wish to collectively broaden themselves for the better.

Unbeknownst to them at the time, C.O.F.F.I.N was sculpting their skill of drawing in unlikely crowds and conversation.

An invitation for self-reflection, the chance to chat to each other, to consider the Other.
