Lyndon Morgans

Of Gods And Men

'Of Gods And Men' is the first album from Welsh songwriter Lyndon Morgans to be released under his own name, having put out his previous eight albums under the 'Songdog' identity. Over the course of the record's 15 tracks, Lyndon continues his exploration of his favourite themes - the passing of time, lost love, sex, death, ageing and psychic overload.

In addition to fellow Songdog regular Karl 'Pod' Woodward, who provides the distinctive Mellotron sound that peppers the album - and also designed the cover art - Lyndon is joined by several guest musicians, including Mathew Conner on drums, backing vocalist Colleen McCarthy and producer Alex Franklinos on bass.

    A Happy Ending

This eighth album by Songdog is a collection of twelve songs by Welsh songwriter Lyndon Morgans on the subject of passing time, the damage it can inflict, and the condolences it may bestow upon a man. Songdog's 2017 album 'Joy Street' received great press from the likes of Mojo, Uncut, The Mirror, Maverick and AmericanaUK, amongst others. Tracks were featured on BBC Radio 2 and BBC 6 Music, including a session on Tom Robinson's show. In his review for The Mirror, writer Gavin Martin said: "Morgans' development as a songwriter, playwright & musical connoisseur is clear. The songs breathe in details and scenes of a lifetime." In his assessment for Uncut, Nigel Williamson said: "Dylan Thomas meets Ray Davies backed by The Waterboys? Believe it." Previous output has also attracted praise from well-known names such as Bruce Springsteen and Robert Wyatt.

      Joy Street

"I try to write as if it's forever," says Lyndon Morgans, alias Welsh singer-songwriter Songdog. The Welsh native has certainly achieved this artistic objective on his seventh album, the sublime Joy Street. While the eleven tracks here retain what NME once described as "glacier-paced folk noir", the collection augments Songdog's melancholic majesty with a radio-friendly buoyancy. The whole thing is beautifully blended by renowned producer Nigel Stonier, who has previously worked with Fairport Covention, Joan Baez and Thea Gilmore. And indeed Gilmore appears as a backing vocalist on four songs.
