JAHTARI

Heavyweight dub album by Alien Trackers, a new project by cosmic trumpet specialist Pablo Volt (STA) and Jahtari space ship mechanic Disrupt, landing right in the sweet spot between soulful Black Ark-warmth, digital Firehouse dancehall hitters and Jahtarian dub psychedelics.

A lazy day at a beach, in a galaxy far, far away... Feel the sand between your tentacles and splash in the emerald acid sea. Snorkel with plasma squids and shock eels. Marvel  at the double suns during the magic twilight cycle and bask in their glorious gamma rays. Gaze into the depths of the local Vortex...

Coming on alien-green vinyl, with hand drawn art by David 8000 Farris, additional bass & guitars from Dubsworth, and an all four thumbs up-rating, 'Dubs from Vortex Beach' is landing in your orbit right now!

STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: 8-bit island dub from Jahtari heads Disrupt and Pablo Volt. Very much like being washed up on deserted paradise with nothing but endless bags of ganja and salt fish to plunder. All captured in that crunchy patina Jahtari have made their own.

Disrupt

Samurai Showdown / Last Blade

Originally out as a free Net-7inch on Jahtari in 2008 to pay respects at the shrine of arcade machine fighting games, these undying hip-hop-infused martial arts dubs by Disrupt are finally reaching their intended destination: white blood-splattered 7inch vinyl (attention: not actual blood!).

"Samurai Showdown" (which eventually became Solo Banton's classic "Kung Fu Master", from his "Music Addict EP" in 2010) is taking place at sunrise, of course, when two master swordsmen are matching blades in a battle to the death. Can the wave-cutting technique of the Jahtari-school prevail?

The B-side is the meditation after the battle, mentally re-creating the epic struggle move by move and in slow motion...So draw your Katana and prepare for beats as sharp as a battle sword, deadly moves of Ninja swiftness and basslines coming straight from the six paths of hell.

STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: Jahtari been in this shit for 21 years! Such an iconic label. 8-bit digi-dub! Roster all star Disrupt switches on the arcade beat 'em ups of the late 90s for a double edged, 8-bit battle weapon. En guard!

Last Blade

A killer fusion of bass, poetry and social consciousness from the King Midas Sound vocalist.

Roger Robinson is one of the most versatile voices in the dub poetry scene today, seamlessly blending the power of the written word with the raw energy of the soundsystem.

Teaming up once again with Dub wizard Disrupt to conclude an album trilogy that began with “Dis Side Ah Town” and “Dog Heart City“, Robinson pulls a wide range of riddims straight from the Jahtari vaults to create “Heavy Vibes“, a killer fusion of bass, poetry, and social consciousness.

With a voice oscillating between soulful falsetto and deep poetry thunder Robinson’s verses hit as hard as the bass, challenging the listener to confront uncomfortable truths, while Disrupt’s richly textured, dub-heavy production ensures the music moves both body and mind. You’ll find yourself dancing, but more importantly, you’ll find yourself thinking.

Coming with stunning cover art by Kiki Hitomi and featuring deadly riddims by Tapes, Naram, Jura Soundsystem, Maffi and Bo Marley, “Heavy Vibes” balances the weight of oppression with a glimmer of hope – the belief that change is possible, that the beat goes on, and that through solidarity and art, new futures can be forged.

Experimental downbeat Afro-futurism album by dub poetry free spirit Jasmine Tutum, with production by OG Jahtari lads Disrupt and Rootah as The Other Others, oscillating between spaced out soundscapes, floaty hoovers and heavy movers.

Tokyo-born, grown up in Jamaica and living in Germany (with various stops in-between) Jasmine’s wild biography translates into sonic territory with this LP, drawing inspiration from Grace Jones and Theo Parrish, newworldaquarium and Roger Robinson alike.

Bo Marley

Masters Of The Universe

After their undying classic album from 2007, Bo Marley are finally back with a vengeance - and a massive ghettoblaster! Always ready to rock your backyard, street corner or..er..local super market (as done in a legendary surprise attack last year in Leipzig), the Harlev homeboys once again power up their Chariot Of Fire and drop a floor-devastating tape reel here that effortlessly rolls up electrifying beats, short-wired robo-magic and a voltage drenched low-rider bass into one big and long masterpiece. The patented Bo space-lyrics in German/Danish warp mode are again dealing with the big timeless themes of our age: rocking it on stage ("Wir Setzt Den Trend"), rolling along with the Bo Mobile ("Rollen Vorbei"), the joys of driving a scooter ("Mofa Fahren") and Robot Cars ('with volt power - yeah!'). Kaptain Dreck joins the posse for one tune here, with a fistful of rhymes that would even impress He-Man himself. With Fe-tape for Xtra Bass! Be quick - ultra-limited edition. Skeletor need not apply.
