Let's Dance Vol 3

Funkyjaws Music keeps on keeping on with its Let's Dance series, which now hits volume number three. It is another doozy that follows the tradition of bringing together four different and equally able artists on one 12". Jacques Renault kicks off with some funky and disco-fried fun on 'Such A Tease' and The Patchouli Brothers take it old school with their steamy disco burner 'Wishin' U Would Call.' The flipside keeps the good vibes alive with some lovely cowbell action and mad-funky riffs on Paul Older's 'Dancin' On Your Mind' and then a little steamy psyched-out guitar magic defines the glorious closer 'House Of Rising Sun.'

The Just What The World Needs label is back with its 15th EP from the eponymous production outfit behind the imprint and it carries right on from where the last one left off. 'Track 1' is a fiery and Latin-tinged Afro gem with funky rhythms and big horns that bring sunny and open-air party vibes. 'Track 2' has a hint of MPB to it with more low-slung funk grooves and steamy vocals while 'Track 3' then flips the script again with a more cosmic vibe and plenty of mad Rhodes chords. Last but not least is 'Track 4' with some lo-fi and light night melon twisting disco sounds.

It's another winner from Mushroom Pillow - the same label that you the Joe Bataan Andres remix, the JD Twitch tweak of Cumbia Moderna De Soldedad and the Phenominal Handclap Band / Jose Parla mix of Alfredo Linares.

STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: Mushroom Pillow enlist Jacques Renault for another double header of Latin reworkings. Obviously the Genesis in question here isn't the long serving UK rock band, but the Colombian folk-rock band popular in 1970s. Meanwhile Sangre Joven's harmonica-driven powerhouse gets nicely tailored for modern dancefloors under Renault's talented hand. Mega 7"!

Never / Don't Say Goodnight

Jacques Renault is back, and it's for no other than cult mash-up, refix house label Stamp!

Two more peak-time reworks for the esteemed label from this high energy modern disco master, Source material unknown to me, but it's a sparkly, full colour affair on both tracks with lots of orchestration and full throttle grooves looped up for our delight and garnished with extra production - filters and fx and such like.

If you liked the COMBI, NY Edits and EROS records - this'uns 4 U!!
