HOT BISCUIT RECORDINGS

Afro / Latin disco heat chopped, diced n sizzled by man like Specter. "Spanish Fly" charges in on flanging strings and galloping grooves, like Donna Summer meets Hugh Masekela. "Do The Groove" has some spindelly guitar lines and chanting vox over a thick, hefty afro-funk groove. "Show Off" quickens the pace as it takes a Fela Kuti soundalike into the cosmic disco stratosphere. Like mummy's Hot Biscuits straight outta the over, these are gonna be gobbled up quick, so don't ruin your dinner and cop now!

STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: Andres Ordonez debuts on Hot Biscuit with a classy EP of boisterous and incendiary edits which scream over-crowded boat parties or tearing the cargo netting off your next low-ceiling basement disco.

We finally get our hands on copies of this, ahem, mighty double pack of edits from The Mighty Zaf. The keen eared will have copped that UK stalwarts such as Luke Unabomber and Giles Peterson have been hammering this - having been gifted upfront promo copies. For us peasants, its been worth the wait. Seven highly rambunctious cuts that feature all corners of this maverick's audio spectrum - from riotous funk, percussive workouts, sensual boogie and highy frenetic disco exuberance - there's a bit of everything from this well seasoned and globally respected digger. Demand is high, copies are scarce - you know what to do!

STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: Love Vinyl's king of disco is somewhat of a bit of a ledge here in Manchester (despite him being 110% Landon thru and thru!! - Ed). He smashed it at Wet Play back in the day, now he rocks it at Community. He's also a big DJ on the festival circuit. Anyway, we'd heard about this clutch of cult edits from the man, but we never thought we'd actually get our hands on them! Issued through Hot Biscuit and sounding hot as as a baker's ball sack, Zaf doesn't disappoint as he takes us on a whistle stop tour of disco, boogie, funk and beyond!

The genius of Mark Grusane is never in doubt. And this double A side confirms his abilities, once again, with a razor and tape, editing superbly for the dancefloor two huge staples of the disco and early house music scene.

STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: Another quite historical moment on the Hot Biscuit catalogue this week as Mark Grusane tackles "Sun Sun Sun" which has been used by everyone from Ron Hardy to David Mancusso to Matt Edwards.
