Ashford & Simpson

Found A Cure -Tom Moulton / Joey Negro Mixes

Two legendary remixes of the Ashford & Simpson classic get pressed on one high fidelity 12" by the good folks at Groovin'. New York royalty Tom Moutlon extends the fun over 10 minutes, with a perfectly poised arrangement that's more combustible than white phosphorus, it really is a spectacular version that demonstrates why he's one of the most sought after remixers of the disco scene.

Meanwhile, Dave Lee's dub version (released before the producer changed his name), does a tasty job of dubbing out the joint, bringing focus to the lavish instrumentation and incredible groove.

Massive 12" for disco heads. Don't sleep!

STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: Following on from Joe Claussell's mix of "Bourgie Bourgie" last week, "Found A Cure" gets remixed by New York's Tom Moulton and Essex's Dave Lee FKA Joey Negro. 10 outta 10 glitterballs for this one folks.

STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: One of Big Joe's finest disco remixes, and a holy grail spiritual house epic. Groovin' do our wallets a favour and scare of the sharks with a much needed reissue at a rather reasonable price.

Peven Everett

Stuck - Danny Krivit / Phil Asher Mixes

Mega slice of Peven Everett basement soul here nicely touched up by masters Danny Krivit and Phil Asher. "Stuck" bucks along on a loose house groove, with Peven's unstoppable vocal flow providing much of the direction and decoration. Mr. K's version has a really deep, organic feel to it, with careful attention to instrumentation and arrangment.

Phil Asher adds a more upfront house feel to proceedings: louder drums, busier arrangement, but still possessing all of Peven's natural charasma and soul oozing off the record. A real doozy!

STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: Danny K and Phil Asher offer up two takes on this Peven Everett classic. Danny's is more suited to the backroom with its restrained and understated approach while Phil Asher ups the energy for the main room.
