Greg Freeman

All Set The Bone

Greg Freeman was barely done making his breakthrough album, 'Burnover', which was released to wide critical praise and landed in The New York Times Best Albums of 2025 list and received the coveted 'Best New Album' distinction from Pitchfork, when he started writing his new record 'All Set The Bone'.

On 'All Set The Bone', he embraces friction instead of refusing it, using scant rehearsal times and urgent, self- appointed deadlines, which was finished quickly, in a real Hollywood studio with one of rock's best modern architects, John Congleton.

STAFF COMMENTS

Barry says: Heavy alt-country grooves and clattering percussion beneath frantic honky tonk piano and Freeman's Southern-leaning drawl, resulting in an album that's both nuanced and intense, leaning into the alt much more than the country. Brilliantly dynamic, heartfelt melodies throughout.

Greg Freeman

I Looked Out

When Greg Freeman quietly released his debut album I Looked Out in 2022, it was immediately clear to the small community who heard it that the Vermont songwriter captured something intangibly exciting and distinctly American.

Across 10 explosive songs that meld knotty indie rock with pastoral twang, he sings with a zealous urgency of shipwrecks, biblical visions, doomed drifters, dams breaking, and lives left in rearview mirrors. His evocative writing paints a world where revelation or ruin is behind every corner but it always leaves room for hope and human connection.

A resoundingly confident LP, it’s a testament to Burlington’s vibrant music community and the pure magic of opening yourself up to creative risks and collaboration.

Finally available on vinyl for the first time!

Greg Freeman

Burnover

Greg Freeman thrives on finding emotional catharsis and present-day resonance in the eccentric ugliness of the past.

His songs all have a palpable sense of place thanks to his urgent delivery and evocative lyricism, which mines history for character-driven tales of violence, loss, and epiphany. On his second LP 'Burnover', the Maryland-born, Burlington, Vermont-based artist uses the complicated backdrop of the Northeast to sing of grief, alienation, and the clarity that comes from opening up yourself to love.

Explosive, unsettling, and undeniable, the 10 tracks here meld energetic indie rock with an ambling twang. It's Freeman's most adventurous and personal yet, cementing him as a singular songwriting talent.
