"No Sun" is the fifth studio album by singer, songwriter, producer and scholar Ramona Gonzalez PKA Nite Jewel.

After the critical acclaim of Real High (2017), Gonzalez began her PhD in Musicology at UCLA in 2018. At the same time, her twelve year marriage and creative partnership with Grammy Award-winning producer Cole M.G.N. dissolved, leaving her homeless and adrift. Though in a state of grief, her studies renewed her focus.

Working with only a Moog sequencer and keyboard, Gonzalez improvised along to rhythmic grooves while singing in hushed undertones, which she then meticulously produced into a collection of intimate off-pop masterpieces. "No Sun" manifests a future out of songs of sorrow, as a part of Gonzalez’s quest to reclaim her subjectivity.

Occupying a liminal space between Arthur Russell’s whispered intimacies, Tirzah’s R&B poeticism, and Kraftwerk’s rigid electronics, "No Sun" traverses new soundscapes through the eyes of an uncompromising female auteur.

Recorded over the course of four years, Nite Jewel returns with the help of Cole M.G.N., these songs of absent love and relentless nostalgia present the most personal, lyric driven Nite Jewel record to date.

With everything from expansive, futuristic balladry to mellow dance floor hits, Real High acts as the artists most focused and bold effort yet.

Featuring contributions from long-time collaborators such as Dâm-Funk, Droop-E, and Julia Holter, the timeless production, unique voice, and pristine song-craft of Real High creates an irresistible combination that only seeks to enhance its affecting message.

Ramona Gonzalez began as Nite Jewel in 2008 as the result of her juggling music with undergraduate studies. She cites artists such as Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey as her musical inspirations. With assistance from her husband, Cole MGN, she created songs on a portable eight-track cassette recorder. She stated that "moments of ecstasy, emotion, and hardship" were her inspiration for those recordings.

Liquid Cool

Internationally lauded chillwave originator and indie darling Ramona Gonzalez returns as Nite Jewel with her first album in four years following her critically acclaimed album 'One Second Of Love'. Performed and produced entirely on her own, the album is intimate yet danceable, DIY yet radio-ready. She’s been using the term “liquid cool” to describe her music at least as far back as 2010, a term that aptly describes her sound, charismatic and fluid, substantive but challenging to pin down. For fans of Jessy Lanza and How to Dress Well.

'Liquid Cool' is released via Gloriette records, Nite Jewel's own imprint upon which she release her debut. Debut single, Boo Hoo, already see 75K streams on Soundcloud alone. Free from the constraints of corporate backing, the new album is poised to cut through the din of 2016 and move listeners in incisive and deeply personal ways.
