ENDEMIC

Producer Endemic Emerald has provided top-notch beats for many in the rap game over the years - notable names such as various members of the Boot Camp & Wu Tang camps, Tragedy Khadafi, Ill Bill, and Planet Asia. On ‘Renegade Soul’ he digs deep into his sounds to bring us his 1st instrumental album. The set features an array of soulful soundscapes, accompanied by a gritty undertone. The album moves through different moods, utilising a range of jazzy pianos, intense strings, and heavy basslines. Accompanied by soulful voices throughout a real edge is provided and makes ‘Renegade soul’ guaranteed head-nod material.

STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: The enigmatic Endemic returns for the second week in a row. It's sans rappers this time though, as the skilled producer offers up an album of blunted instrumental hip-hop beats.

Celebrating its 10 year anniversary, we get a vinyl editon of Endemic's "Terminal Illness Part 2" - completing this double-headed rap saga in fine style! The record received high praise & gained bare DJ support from the likes of Premiere & Eclipse when it was released on CD, but it was remained unavailable on vinyl until now! Much like the first part, the production features gritty samples, hefty boom-bap beats and some skilled scratching sections - promoting that old school flavour with some fiery, intense, and highly articulate bars by the rappers involved. Guest MC appearances include Masta Killa, Roc Marciano, Cappadonna, Planet Asia, Skyzoo, Killah Priest, Hell Razah, Shabazz The Disciple & Tragedy Khadafi. Though full of potty-mouthed language throughout, the lyrical content is actually quite conscious, and a breath of fresh air amongst all the fake chain, face-tattooed trap rappers that still probably live with their mum!

RIYL: Wu-tang, Statik Selektah, Apollo Brown, Dilated Peoples etc.

STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: Another masterpiece of conscious boombap from the transatlantic producer and his veritable clutch of guest rappers.
