A fresh A-side from Durand Jones & The Indications finds drummer and falsetto king Aaron Frazer taking the lead on 'Let's Take Our Time'. Aaron and the boys lean right into their break and better wheelhouse with a tune that feels like it would be comfortable right next to a Mayfield-era Impressions' track.

The flip, 'Flower Moon' taken from the group's most recent full-length effort Flowers finds the group truly in top form: pocket drums classic horn arrangements, and simply angelic group harmonies.

Martin Blix is BLIXX86 and his entire catalogue so far dropped back in 2021 as part of a self related run of singles. Now the lead single 'Pull The Trigger' from the last of those EPs is revisited with some new remixes. The first new version is a dark, chugging Italo cut with twinkling synth stars and gritty bass. 'Italoconnection Remix 2' has a happier outlook with rueful synths hovering above the lighter low end. There's also an AP Mono Remix that brings a deadpan 80s vocal and taps into the synth wave sounds of that era before a Gianni Durante instrumental closes out with the tightest and most retro future Italo vibes of the lot.

'Sweet Release' is the second album from master musicians Justin Adams & Mauro Durante.

Three years of worldwide touring has turned what was originally a fusion project into a fully realised and unique entity. Drawing on Durante's Taranta background with Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino, as well as his work with Ludovico Einaudi, and Adams' prolific career as guitarist, with everyone from Sinead O'Connor to Robert Plant and Tinariwen, their musical landscape ranges from raw Rockabilly to Sufi ecstasy via Minimalism. For this album they have brought in some guest vocalists adding yet more layers to their distinctive sound. 

Exploring themes of musical healing and catharsis, the title track and opener 'Sweet Release' is a heartfelt manifesto of the duo's vision, featuring Adams' unmistakeable touch on the guitar and Durante's masterful tamburello frame drum. Along with original tracks such as the shimmering pizzica- based 'Leuca' featuring guest singer Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino's Alessia Tondo and the wildly rocking 'Ghost Train', they cover Lebanese Diva Fairuz's haunting Easter Hymn 'Wa Habibi' with guest singer Yousra Mansour from Bab L' Bluz, which becomes a timely meditation on suffering. CBGB's underground legend Felice Rosser brings vocals to 'Tide Keeps Turning' adding a deeply soulful touch to the ritual Neapolitan Tammurriata beat of Durante's drum, while Adams' starkly beautiful guitar illuminates 'Aurora', inspired by a dawn call to prayer heard in Rajasthan. The anthemic Instrumental 'Ithaca Return' opens brightly before turning into a wild pizzica-like tune led by Durante's rhapsodic violin. 'Qui Non Vorrei Morire', sung by Durante, is a setting of a poem by Vittorio Bodini, another native of Salento, originally recorded by Mauro's late father Daniele, one of the leading lights of the Taranta revival.

A disciple of mambo innovator Perez Prado, the Cuban-born Modesto Duran was a pivotal figure in Latin dance music’s transitionary mid-century period. His gentle slaps can be heard across dozens of 1950s mega-sellers, from Esquivel to Belafonte, Eartha Kitt to Lena Horne. On his 1960 solo debut, Duran gathers a who’s who of conga-men, including Mongo Santamaría, Willie Bobo, and Juan Cheda, delivering a cinematic and percussive melange of afro-cuban, cha cha, and exotic jazz styles for the discerning listener.

Rio - Duran's second album, Rio, was released in 1982 following the success of their debut album. Rio electrified the already-rising 'second British invasion', dominating the American charts with singles such as 'Rio', 'Hungry Like The Wolf' and 'Save a Prayer'. All of which remain as some of Duran's biggest streaming songs to this day.

Seven and the Ragged Tiger - Originally released in 1983, Seven and the Ragged Tiger was the final Duran album with the original five members (until 2004). This third album was the first of Duran's to reach #1 in the UK charts. 'The Reflex' was remixed by Nile Rodgers and released as the third single on the album, it became the first US and second UK #1 single.

Notorious - Notorious signified a musical change for Duran in 1986. Produced by Nile Rodgers, it focuses on brassy numbers and Chic inspired dance rock. Over time, it has become a cult favourite of fans for the more mature compositions and sophisticated directions. It was the first album to feature the band as a trio with the departure of Roger and Andy Taylor.

Big Thing - The band continued to explore different styles and culminated in Big Thing which was released in 1988. The album was a reflection on the musical climate which was changing towards the late 80s and had a more experimental and electronic approach compared to earlier Duran releases.

French pianist and trumpeter Guillaume Poncelet presents his second solo album, “Durango”.

This album was named after the studio where he works alongside his sound engineer, Romain Clisson. It explores the sphere of minimalist neo-classical music with deep and subtle nuances.

In these 10 new compositions, we find that muffled upright piano sound, unique and characteristic of Guillaume Poncelet, which weaves in the keyboards and synths orchestrated by Louxor. It’s a luxurious affair rich with velvety feels.

Duran Duran return with their new album Danse Macabre. The 13 song collection features: three brand new songs, haunting covers of songs by artists such as Billie Eilish, Talking Heads, The Rolling Stones and The Specials, and new versions of Duran Duran classics from their own catalog.

Durand Jones’s Wait ‘Til I Get Over is a memoir and a love letter. It is the story of Jones’s life, his growth and revelations, the wisdom of his hometown and the wisdom he could only gain once he left. In it, he writes through Hillaryville’s contradictions: the pristine beauty and the ragged roads; his teenage desire to leave and his adult desire to honor his tangled roots; the plantation history and the ups and downs of the Black community that made homes of this reparation town. “Hometowns have a way of keeping a part of you,” says Jones, “and if I’m making something young-me would be proud of, Hillaryville is a big part of that.” Jones finds something transformative in his memories there and the life he has led since, ultimately claiming and embracing his whole self.

The result is vulnerable, personal, touching on Jones’s relationship to church life, to his mother, to his queerness, to his worth. “I wish I could tell my younger self ‘you don’t have to stick to the dreams people have for you,’” says Jones, “’you can dream bigger. You are more than capable, you are more than able. I think about some nerdy punk kid in the rural south who needs to hear that now.’” Wait ‘Til I Get Over does exactly that.

The Indications’ 2016 self-titled debut was the product of friends who met as students at Indiana University in Bloomington, In., recorded for $452.11, including a case of beer. American Love Call, the band’s sophomore LP is instead the record the Indications dreamed of making, fleshed out with strings, backing vocals, and a newfound confidence in songwriting.

Blending a slew of influences from years spent crate-digging, guitarist Blake Rhein says the Indications approach songs in the same way hip-hop producers do, as likely to pull inspiration from ‘70s folk-rock or classic R&B as they are Nas’ Illmatic.

“Did I expect to do this shit once I got out of college? Hell no,” Jones relays, laughing. “Totally not. But this is what God is telling me to do – move and groove. So I’m gonna stay in my lane.”

The members of Sun Club became a band as childhood friends over ten years ago and have toured endlessly ever since, opening up for the likes of Alvvays, FIDLAR and Fat White Family.

Their first-ever full length album, ‘The Dongo Durango’, finds the band joyously deconstructing the traditional pop song and then rebuilding it with off-kilter time signatures, gleefully unhinged vocals and sunny hooks that sink deep into your already fevered brain.

Sun Club set about recording ’The Dongo Durango’ using an old warehouse space just outside of their hometown as a makeshift studio. They recorded the album live. There they channelled influences of fellow Baltimore greats from Future Islands to Dan Deacon, as well as drawing from their own musical libraries that include DEVO, The Beach Boys and The White Stripes.
