Especial Specials has recently helped to take the Japanese label Chill Mountain Record into the world of wax after it previously operated only in the digital world. Now it carries on with a similar MO as it works with Multi Culti label head, DJ and producer Dreems on a new set of limited-edition EPs. He has already landed on the likes of Kompakt, Pinchy & Friends and Futureboogie and now digs into his vaults to serve up some edits and dubs that are hard to pin down but often doused in psychedelic overtones, acid and dub. Each one is a unique work in its own right but they all add up to one helluva good EP.

Especial Specials always deal in releases with a story often as interesting as the music itself. This time out they enlist DJ and producer Dreems for a fine collection of limited-edition 12"s. Angus Gruzman aka Dreems is the man behind the vital Multi Culti label and has dropped his own wares on the likes of Kompakt, Pinchy & Friends and Futureboogie but somehow remains rather in the shadows. This deep dive into his vaults should change that - these are edits and dubs that come doused in psychedelia as they trip through several genres. There is off-kilter dub, melon-twisting dub, intensely percussive and tribal dub, and more across the five fantastic tracks.

Jonny 5 is known for his superlative edits as well as heading up the Bahnsteig 23 label and here he returns from time out becoming a father to kick off this new one from Duca Bianco. 'Joy Riding' is loopy disco-post-punk for a peak-time trip. Multi Culti man Dreems then brings the Afro party vibes with his 'Bususua' which is packed with dub fx and steeped in fun. Miserymix throw in their Italo-licked post-disco and punk sounds on 'Adjust Your Love' before a big finale by Black Bones who offers deep and dubby house that has been a secret edit for a while but finally gets unveiled here to great effect as it worms its way into your brain.

Matt says: First vinyl outing for our Mine (can you guess which one she is?) who takes to the chopping board like a skilled surgeon, dissecting some lost Italo-themed post-punk jam with the dexterity of a panther! The other joints on offer are also fire making this a release you don't wanna miss!

Meeting up in Australia after time spent in Europe and North America, old friends and collaborators Angus Gruzman (Dreems) and Jono Ma (Jagwar Ma) teamed up in Sydney and celebrated their personal climate change with a cover of The Moffs '80s cult classic. Equal parts of each artist shimmer in this visceral version of ‘Another Day In The Sun’

A love letter to the end of the summer, also featuring the vocals of Gabriel Winterfield (Jagwar Ma), the song takes sonic cues from their surroundings on the Australian east coast. This is a one-off collaboration released to tie-in with Dreems current tour dates.
