The Great Distraction

Fourth studio album from Leeds quintet Vessels. ‘The Great Distraction’ is their most ambitious full length to date.

Features collaboration with The Flaming Lips on ‘Deflect The Light’, plus tracks with John Grant, Vincent Neff (Djano Django) and Harkin (Sky Larkin).

Where collaborations such as these embody the hallmark of a band pushing forward, it’s the unrelenting, hypnotic intensity of tracks like ‘Radiart’ and the fragmented, complex beauty of ‘Radio Decay’ that anchor Vessels’ essential evolution in core elements of their past.

While celebrated third album ‘Dilate’ was characterised by a definitive electronic shift, ‘The Great Distraction’ is about much more than a desire to go four-to-the-floor.

Barry says: It's post-rock with an electronic soul, electronica imbued with the song structure of a classic indie hit. Glitched-out clicking beats and soaring distorted vox, rising and falling together, entangled in a cacophony of blissful melody.

    Anna Of The North

‘Lovers’ is the debut album from Anna Of The North. An album deeply rooted in heartbreak, a subject that courses through the veins of all ten tracks - through the turmoil, the guilt and the tentative joy of finally letting yourself move on.

The Norwegian-Kiwi duo of Anna Lotterud and Brady Daniell-Smith offer up an emphatically assured debut album, its clean, springy beats and shimmering synths underpinned by the rich, emotive clarity of Anna’s voice.

Recorded in Oslo and mixed in Copenhagen and London by Luke Smith (Foals, Petite Noir, Depeche Mode), the album is a coherent but endlessly varied beast.

Anna recently supported Justin Bieber in Hyde Park at British Summer Time. Playing Blissfields and Bestival plus a sold out headline show at London’s Omeara in September.

Anna also contributes guest vocals on two tracks from Tyler, The Creator’s new album ‘Flower Boy’.

Few DJs have truly trashed the rulebook like Fake Blood. When his remixes snuck onto the dance scene in 2008, he shied away from the spotlight and, like a dancefloor ninja, managed to keep his identity firmly under wraps. There were no gimmicks, no stadiumsized headpieces or fancy dress masks to obscure him, just a desire for club heads to absorb his music without any preconceptions.

Four years and four EPs on, Theo Keating is still something of an enigma. He doesn’t prey on fame, he does very few interviews and he isn’t part of a DJ crew; he has always preferred to let his music speak for itself. He’s been in no hurry to release a record either, until now, that is.

Keating has found a home on Different Recordings, which counts club crusaders like Tiga, Felix Da Housecat and Vitalic among its roster, and is finally ready to present his debut album, ‘Cells’.

To ready fans for his debut long-player, Fake Blood drops the ‘Yes/No’ EP. The 12” features fan-favourite ‘Yes/No’, a blur of samples, strings and bass that has been a staple in Theo’s sets for a while, as well as ‘End Of Days’, an apocalyptic and cinematic techno opus.
