Dice The Boss

Tea House From Emperor Roscoe / Brixton Cat

"Tea House From Emperor Roscoe” by Dice The boss aka Pama Dice was first released as a B-side of the early Reggae classic “She Caught The Train” by Ray Martell released in 1970 on the Trojan sublabel Joe, whilst “Brixton Cat” was released in 1969 on the Duke Label under a Joe logo. Both titles are skinhead reggae classics that have never been reissued and are very much in demand.

E Da Boss (The Pendletons, Myron & E) made his first Star Creature debut with his group Lucid Paradise. His return features Ishtar and new single "Pool 4 U" comes in two flavours - one produced by The Whole Truth and the other remixed by E. Live.

The A Side gets the E. Live, jazz-funk remix treatment while the B Side comes heavy with a foot stomping, boogie bomb, floor filling flavour throughout! Another essential modern classic from the Star Creature juggernaut. Limited copies!

    STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: A brand new boogie bomb from the Star Creature camp that's of such a high pedigree I had to check it wasn't a cover version. Summery vibes across both takes, with a more galvanized production promoted by E.Live, while The Whole Truth offer up that original disco-boogie flavour.

    Joao Gilberto

The Boss Of The Bossa Nova

Born in Juazeiro, Bahia, Brazil, singer/songwriter Joao Gilberto (1931-2019) was a true legend of bossa nova

While Antonio Carlos Jobim set the standard for the creation of bossa nova in the mid-'50s with songs like 'The Girl from Ipanema' and 'Desafinado'), it was Gilberto who brilliantly reimagined, and arguably, defined the genre.

This LP includes the complete contents of Gilberto's LP 'Brazil's Brilliant Joao Gilberto', which received a five-star rating on AllMusic, plus several of his greatest hits from his early years, including classic versions of 'Corcovado', 'Samba de Uma Nota So', 'Meditacao', 'Manha de Carnaval', 'Insensatez', and 'Desafinado', among many others.

        Boss Hog

        Brood X

BOSS HOG returns from the wild with their most subversive record yet — this is the seductive soundtrack for the second coming of militant rock’n’roll, and the groove has never been stronger.

BROOD X — emerging from the dirty streets of New York City after 17 years gestation — is a futuristic brew of 21st Century blues, toxic punk rock beat music, and hyper-focused, outer-space psycho assaults. Thermo-nuclear chanteuse CRISTINA MARTINEZ blisters the hypocrites, the haters, the heartless, and the clueless hangers-on with a full-tilt microphone attack. A sex-bomb salvo for troubled times, Martinez give’s voice to America’s pain while pulling no punches.

BOSS HOG does not negotiate. This is scorched earth rock’n’roll for the resistance, barbed-wire blues battling for the future of the planet. Recorded & mixed at the fabled Key Club, using Sly Stone’s legendary There’s A Riot Going On console, BROOD X channels the subversive mojo of the underground and brings next-level sonics to save your very soul.

Tired of feeling sad? Tired of feeling beat-down? Tired of feeling used, abused, lied to, and shamed? Remember what it was like when rock’n’roll made everything all right??

BOSS HOG has heard your call.

BROOD X is the change you have been waiting for.

          Boss

          I'm Down With That

BOSS are Guro Gikling of All We Are, Theresa Wayman of Warpaint, Sarah Jones, who has previously drummed for Hot Chip and Yeasayer, and Speedy Wunderground head-honcho Dan Carey, who has recently been involved in the Sexwitch project with Natasha Khan and TOY.

In the time honoured spirit of the label, the single was produced in a day at Dan’s south London studio and is their first release, yet the inception of the band goes back to 2012 when Dan met Theresa at a festival in Slovakia (he would also later produce All We Are’s debut album).

“Being a Warpaint fan I found her backstage and told her I was the best psychedelic rock producer in the world,” remembers Dan.

“The exact words of her response were ’that’s the last fucking thing we need. See you later.’ “

Despite the inauspicious meeting, Dan would later be recruited to work on Theresa’s forthcoming solo album and having met Guro on tour, Theresa invited her to also work on the long-player.

Born out of these album sessions, the BOSS track came out of post recording jams and after recruiting drummer Sarah Jones, a 20 second snatch of an almost 15 hour jam was eventually worked into ‘I’m Down With That’.
