Christophe is a major figure on the French music scene of the seventies to the 2000ís. With his amazing repertoire and modern productions, he has indelibly influenced several generations of artists who proudly claim him as their heir. To mark the 50th anniversary of French singer Christophe's legendary album, BMG is releasing a limited edition of the eponymous track on 12" blue vinyl on Records Store Day. "Les Mots bleus" was released in 1974 and quickly became Christophe's signature song - the lyrics are by Jean-Michel Jarre and the music is by Christophe. It's also a song that's become part of French heritage, and has been covered countless times. The song was so successful that Christophe performed two sold-out nights at the legendary Olympia concert hall in Paris. Fun fact: on the track "Le dernier des Bevilacqua", which opens the album "Les mots bleus", Christophe sings an extract of "Les mots bleus" in Italian, before we hear the title again three songs later. So, logically, this track is on the B side of the present 12", which also contains the instrumental version, previously unreleased. And the disc cover features a previously unpublished photo of Bernard Leloup, from the same photo session as the one used for the 7" at the time.

KEITH’s guitar parts for “Heavy Voodoo” and its dubplate companion “Who Dares Dub’ were recorded in New York City sessions for the 2008 LEE ‘SCRATCH’ PERRY album, Scratch Came, Scratch Saw, Scratch Conquered. Shortly after Keith’s contribution were laid down, Scratch set to work at his home in Einsiedeln, Switzerland, jamming live on mic alongside Keith’s new guitar parts. Lee’s Swiss-mountain lair was not strictly for recording, but the combination art studio, shrine and junk yard with its view of a valley and up into the snow-capped Alpine peaks, added its own influence to the recordings. Captured on portable recording gear with Lee using his special sacred jewel-encrusted Shure microphone, the Voodoo was indeed Heavy that day.

A year later, Keith was back in the same New York studio to record parts for “Books Of Moses,” for what would become Scratch’s Grammy-nominated 2010 album, Revelation. This time Keith stripped out the original track and replaced everything except the drums and organ with multiple instrumental takes of his own: bass guitar, Wurlitzer organ, acoustic piano, big drum boom and his inimitable RnB guitar riffs. Once again, vocals wizardry was added in Switzerland, in another Transcontinental collaboration.

Scratch and Keith finally got together in person in 2013 when Keith invited Scratch to New York to mix Keith’s cover of the Gregory Isaacs gem”Love Overdue.” It would be the final pairing of these two musical minds, but their small body of work was infused with magic, history, mystery, and prophecy all at once. SCRATCH’D, the Record Story Day Exclusive vinyl EP, includes the original vocal versions, “Books Of Moses” and “Heavy Voodoo,” plus new instrumental cuts, “Moses Books” (Dub Mix) and ‘Who Dares” (Dub Mix), which feature Keith’s guitar on the frontline.

An extraordinary tribute album to one of rock's great composers, Marc Bolan, which was also made under the direction of the legendary Hal Willner, ‘Angel Headed Hipster: The Songs of Marc Bolan & T. Rex’ is a collection of major stars including Elton John, U2, Joan Jett, Nick Cave, Peaches and Marc Almond who have reinterpreted and reimagined some of Marc Bolan &T.Rex’s greatest tracks including Jeepster, Bang A Gong (Get It On) and Ride A White Swan.

The album, which was made under the direction of Hal Willner who sadly passed away on 7th April, is launching along with the audio and video of Nick Cave’s moving reinterpretation of ‘Cosmic Dancer’. Andy says: On his final project before his passing in April, Hal Willner invited a suitably diverse group to pay tribute to Marc Bolan. But ‘Angelheaded Hipster’ is just as much a testament to Willner’s uncanny knack for connecting people as it is to the source material; How else do you explain a musical cast containing Kesha, Elton John and Todd Rundgren?

Morrissey’s new album of covers includes songs by the likes Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Laura Nyro, Dionne Warwick and many more as well as having guests vocal by Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day), LP, Ed Droost (Grizzly Bear), among others.

Laura says: "Fuzzy Logic" was originally released in 1996, and introduced us to the warped, synth-psych-pop world of the Super Furries. You're plunged straight in from the opening riffs of "God! Show Me Magic", which sets things off at a manic pace, before swooping down into "Fuzzy Birds", then back up again for the hook-filled "Something 4 The Weekend". And so it goes on, vying between manic knob twiddling wig-outs to more pastoral, psych-pop all with an innate sense of melody and fun. They managed to take elements of 60s psych, 70s glam and a punk rock attitude and meld them into something unlike anything else around at the time. It was a real breath of fresh air when it came out in '96 and still sounds great 20 years on!

From the suburbs of Croydon to the industrial bloc of former East Berlin, The Tunics have been quietly making a name for themselves as well as an album.

Their sound is a mix of influences; The Libertines, Cast and Oasis. The album is a melody-heavy, heart-on-the-sleeve affair, reminiscent of the greats from the Britpop era, when guitar bands were ruling the charts. “I’ve got a lot of confidence in the songs that we’re writing and the album that we have,” says frontman Joe. “Not to be too overblown about the whole thing but we’re ready for a proper f**king guitar band with actual songs. I think that’s what the world needs.”

The album opens with the dance-like-you’re-a-teenager-again track entitled "Berlin" - an ode to the city of their rebirth. "Help Is On It’s Way" is next up. Bass heavy, it drives the song forward like speeding traffic, barrelling up the westway. Third up "I’m Broke You’re Bored" will be the second single release from the album: A poignant sentiment with the gently spiralling guitar and keyboards of Costello and Booth providing the soundtrack to it. "Stolen Hearts" is the ballad of the album and a stand-out track complete with slide guitars that shine a western infused sunset light on the song. Next up is "Radio", a beautiful string-laden piece of music that comes with one of the band’s sharpest-tongued lyrics. “I think the song is about everything on the radio being rubbish basically and just saying I can’t bear this any longer, I need an outlet for myself.” Debut single "Low" has a killer hook with layers of piano and guitar sounds. A soft interlude marks the half way point of the album and leads into the second half of the record: "Slaves Ride On These Waves" is again haunted by a western air. The gently plucked guitar and folky balladry places it firmly in the desert, a lost Morricone. "You Already Knew" picks up the tempo and from here on in the album is hitting the backbeat hard. "Shadows" is a jaunty and upbeat psychedelic groover with a political stab. "Wit and Acid Tongue", largely instrumental skiffles by with an undeniable and sometimes abstract sixties’ vibe. "A Moment of Clarity" is the penultimate track on Dabblers Handbook and is a moment in time, an expansive breath and a gently rocking precursor to album closer "Dear God", an epic and beautifully composed prayer of a track. The anthemic strings wrap the closing number into a gift of a finale.
