Rayna's fifth full-length under the Black Meteoric Star again serves as a vessel for her lifelong love of dance music alongside spiritual themes, drag and her formative experiences in S/M culture. Since focusing it in Berlin in 2006, the project from the former member of LCD Soundsystem has always carried an avenger quality and here that energy is aimed directly at the current political moment. Wet celebrates the long shared history between electronic music and queer leather/SM culture, imagining a future where the two are fully reconnected. The sounds are sleek, stripped back electro worlds with sci-fi overtones and retro machines used to conjure everything from proto-rawness to ice cold minimalism.
