Cornucopia Live

Following the global cinematic release of Björk: Cornucopia, the visionary live experience is now set for its first-ever physical release.

Talking about the film Björk said: “I am so thrilled to share the film for my concert 'Cornucopia' with you. This has been a long journey with hundreds of people helping. I am so beyond enormously grateful to every single one of them. I feel the modern concert film is a matriarchally friendly construct, welcomed in the current climate—where female musicians can share their worlds uncorrupted.”

Directed by Ísold Uggadóttir, Cornucopia is Björk’s most ambitious live production to date — a powerful fusion of nature, technology, and sound. The film features creative direction, musical arrangements, production, and performance by Björk, showcasing her singular vision throughout.
Visual co-creative direction is led by James Merry, with additional contributions from a stellar lineup of artists: Andrew Thomas Huang, Gabríela Friðriksdóttir, Pierre-Alain Giraud, Nick Knight, Tobias Gremmler, and Warren Du Preez & Nick Thornton-Jones. Their boundary-pushing visuals merge seamlessly with Björk’s avant-garde sonic landscapes.

The production also features the talents of producers Sara Nassim and Kat Mansoor, with Bergur Þórisson serving as musical director and re-recording mixer. Artur Tort provides the film’s stunning cinematography, while editing comes from Walter Mauriot.

The film is produced by S101 and Snowstorm, in association with Level Forward (also acting as Impact Producer). Executive producers include Derek Birkett; Adrienne Becker and Roger Clark for Level Forward; and Davíð Helgason for Foobar.vc. Co-executive producers are Ian Wheeler for Talkhouse; Susan Lord and Brogan Bamborgan for Level Forward; Benjamin Ratz for Foobar.vc; and Sigrid Dyekjær.

    Björk & Rosalia

    Oral

We’re thrilled to announce the limited edition 12” vinyl release of Björk’s captivating collaboration with Rosalía, featuring a stunning remix by Olof Dreijer from The Knife!

But this release is more than just music—it’s a “call to arms” . Like the digital launch earlier this year, Björk, Rosalía, and their labels (Columbia Records & OLI Records) are waiving all commissions and royalties. That means 100% of the profits will go directly to AEGIS, the charity founded by Björk, dedicated to fighting intensive fish farming in Iceland and protecting our oceans and environment.

Be part of something bigger. Support this cause by owning a piece of this special edition vinyl and joining us in making a difference.

‘Oral’ dates back two decades - first written by Björk between 1997’s Homogenic and 2001’s Vespertine, the track was lost to her archives after feeling like it wasn’t the right fit for an album. Björk rediscovered the song after being reminded of its name whilst on tour in Australia in March 2023, the same month a report was released about the devastating impact of poorly regulated, Norwegian-owned commercial salmon farming operations on Iceland’s native ecosystems.

After deeply resonating with the cause, and as a passionate campaigner and protester for much of her life, Björk enlisted Rosalía to help bring the song to life and in turn raise awareness of the issue. The cruel practice of open-pen farming, introduced to Iceland after Norwegian businessmen began purchasing fish farms in the country’s fjords, involves intensively farming fish by penning them into open water nets that are anchored in natural waterways, where the fish are kept enclosed until they reach marketable size. This accelerates the fish’s development and in many cases creates genetic mutations in the salmon’s DNA, as well as being a breeding ground for a number of parasites and diseases. The industry in Iceland has grown tenfold since 2014, producing under 4,000 tones to 45,000 in 2021, with it now estimated that the annual production could be up to 106,500 tonnes. Iceland has the largest untouched natural area in Europe, and the waste and pollution associated with open-pen farming threatens to permanently damage its entire ocean ecology. Lack of regulation and the industry being largely unsupervised has also meant that thousands of these genetically altered, diseased salmon regularly escape the pens and swim upriver to Iceland’s highlands, where devastating genetic mixing occurs and endangers the future of Iceland’s wild salmon population.

All proceeds from “Oral” will be used to support a legal case against the fisheries, brought forth by residents of the town of Seyðisfjörður on the eastern side of Iceland.

      Fossora

each album always starts with a feeling
that i try to shape into sound
        this time around
        the feeling was landing
( after my last album utopia which was all island in the clouds element air and no bass )
on the earth and digging my feet into the ground
it was also woven into how i experienced the "now"
this time around 7 billion of us did it together
        nesting in our homes quarantining
being long enough in one place that we shot down roots
my new album "fossora" is about that
it is a word i made up
it is the feminine of fossore ( digger, delver, ditcher )
so in short it means "she who digs" ( into the ground )
so sonically it is about bass , heavy bottom-end,
we have 6 bass clarinets and punchy sub
i would like to especially thank bergur þórisson and heba kadry
side project , el guincho , hamrahlíð choir , soraya nayyar , clarinet sextet murmuri , siggi string quartet ensemble , emilie nicolas , serpentwithfeet

        STAFF COMMENTS

Liam says: Returning to Iceland during the pandemic, Bjork's tenth record 'Fossora' began as conceptual clarinet album that was in part inspired by the death of her mother. However 'Fossora' ultimately became, as Bjork describes it, an "Iceland album". Much like the volcanic landscape of Iceland, 'Fossora' is a vast, alluring and beautiful record that once again proves that Bjork will always be here to push the boundaries she once set - all whilst dressed as a mushroom.

        Björk

        Homogenic

By the late '90s, Björk's playful, unique world view and singular voice became as confining as they were defining. With its surprising starkness and darkness, 1997's Homogenic shatters her "Icelandic pixie" image. Possibly inspired by her failed relationship with drum'n'bass kingpin Goldie, Björk sheds her more precious aspects, displaying more emotional depth than even her best previous work indicated. Her collaborators - LFO's Mark Bell, Mark "Spike" Stent, and Post contributor Howie B - help make this album not only her emotionally bravest work, but her most sonically adventurous as well.
