Across four tracks, Bertie Bassett delivers a mix of DJ-focused tools and edits, blending raw house rhythms, funk-driven elements and stripped-back arrangements designed for dancefloor use.

William Onyeabor

Atomic Bomb - 2026 Repress

William Onyeabor was born outside Enugu, a small, rural town in Eastern Nigeria, he created his own genre of African electronic funk in the late 70s and early 80s, making music completely unique for his time. Today, he is reaching cult status among a growing list of admirers, including everyone from Damon Albarn and Hot Chip to Carl Craig and Madlib, with some likening him to the Kraftwerk of West Africa, or a precursor to LCD Soundsystem.

Among the crate-digging few that knew of him, he is considered a complete myth. While he has never performed live and almost never given interviews, his fantastical biography is scattered and has to this day not been verified. And he refused to speak about anything regarding the past.

According to various rumors, he left home following the Biafran War and went to study cinematography in the Soviet Union, returning in the mid-70s to start his own film company and record label, Wilfilms. He then self-released eight remarkable records from 1978-1985. He wrote and produced everything on his own, and possibly played every instrument himself. Then, at some point of his life, he became born again and denounced his earlier music, deciding it is something he would never speak about.

New Bomb Turks

Nightmare Scenario - 2026 Reissue

Back in 1990 the New Bomb Turks got together as four Ohio State University Students who "just wanted to rock". With Nightmare Scenario, New Bomb Turks returned to their snaggle-toothed first mistress — hard-driving, no-holds-barred American punk rock. With the guitar jive of Chuck Berry, the blinding ferocity of Motörhead and the snot of The Dead Boys, singer Eric Davidson and his backing trio fire off a dozen grenades of authentic old-school three-chord riff-rock in little over a half-hour, with nary a pause for breath between tracks. You can’t quibble with the four-on-the-floor intensity of tunes like opening salvo Point To A Point Blank. It was recorded over four days and nights, the only break being a jaunt over to a bar to see a reunited Real Kids, their first show in years, which floored the band and only added more mezcal to the fire.

Axel Boman & Trensum Tribe

LUZ / Quest For Fire - In Dub!

Axel Boman’s critically acclaimed double album "LUZ/Quest For Fire from 2022 gets a remix & dub treatment from one of Scandinavia's finest reggae-and-beyond soundsystems, Trensum Tribe.

'Great, now they sound better that the originals' said Axel when he heard the remixed versions for the first time, excitedly starting to collect the best ones for an album. Having been heavily inspired by Mad Professor’s work for Massive Attack since a young age (listen to "No Protection" for example), a project like this had been a dream of Axel Boman's for decades. There is a certain freedom that comes with remixing, where you can step outside yourself as a producer and take risks and chances you might not in your own work, and Trensum Tribe really took an adventurous new path when they approached this music. On this homage to soundsystem and rave culture, jungle, dub, disco and house all become best friends in front of a huge stack of homemade speakers, standing tall on fresh dew in a Swedish forest on a cold summer night.

Snorkie

Hypnotised Feat. Bethan-Wyn

Nick Byng aka Snorkie is a Worcester based musician who started out working at Rockfield Studios with bands such as The Charlatans, Black Sabbath, XTC, Pop Will Eat Itself, The Paris Angels and The Damned.

His music has since been used by the likes of Norman Cook and Manchester United, with airplay by radio stations such as BBC 6 Music and NYC's East Village Radio. Champions of previous Snorkie releases include Ursula 1000, Craig Charles, Tim 'Love' Lee, DJ Andy Smith, Nemone, Dr Rubberfunk and Don Letts to name a few.

2025 sees a new release 'Hypnotised' on Muito Bom Records. First conceived during the pandemic lockdown of 2020, the lyrics were in fact, first written many years ago and shelved, until now.

The A side is a nu-disco style groover with vocals by Solihull's Bethan Wyn Davies. Side B is a deeper edit with a sprinkling of techno and house. All parts were recorded from live performance in the studio rather than programmed in.

We're currently the only UK record store holding a very limited first press lathe-cut release on 7” with attractive printed centre and clear/transparent vinyl.

Watch out for a new Snorkie release on Muito Bom Records for 2026!

Matt says: Phwooarr! Don't sleep on this one pop pickers! One side - super deep house business with lashings of soul. Ont'other - a silky, laser-guided, late night electro-disco number that's got Red Laser at The Carlton Club written all over it... best of all - we're the only MF's in the country with this record at the moment! Thank Christ For The Bomb - 2025 Repress

Featuring epic 1970 concepts from this far reaching trio much praised by Underworld’s Karl Hyde, Captain Sensible, Stephen Malkmus and a host of others. ‘Thank Christ For The Bomb’ is a visionary tale of cold war fear, alienation and everyday drama.

A thinking man’s rumination on alienation, the album is a game of two halves; side one tackling the thermo nuclear threat while side two traces riches to rags alienation in everyday London. First of a trio of ground-breaking albums that steered the band from the Blues into a heavier, more prog-based sound and a true reflection of their much praised live sound.

The Bombillas

Sema’s Walk B/w Mawasa

Digging into the vault, The Bombillas have unearthed two previously unreleased tracks: "Sema's Walk" b/w "Mawasa." These songs were written and initially recorded shortly after the release of their first 45, "Tortuga b/w Kings Up," in 2017, however, they were not fully completed until late 2024. This new 7-inch features a more mellow Ethiopian jazz aesthetic, utilizing a larger ensemble that includes additional percussion, flute, and horns to the more recent Bombillas lineup you might be familiar with.

On Side A, "Sema's Walk" establishes a steady 2-step 6/8 feel, driven by David Michael Celia on drums, Aquiles "Lito" Magaña on rhythm guitar, Steve Haney on percussion, and Josh Wiener on bass. Together, this core group creates a hypnotic groove, allowing the melodic tapestry to blossom. Celia leads the melodic elements, overdubbed on a Wurlitzer 200a, with contributions from Jesse Audelo on flute, Ian Anderson on saxophone, and Greg Zilboorg on trumpet bring a cinematic element to their interwoven melodies gracefully interacting with the steady bass pattern.

On the flip side, we find "Mawasa," which draws inspiration from one of the legends of Ethiopian jazz, Mulatu Astatke. The Bombillas utilize the Tizita scale in their own way, again led by Ian Anderson on saxophones and Jesse Audelo on flute, this track features David Michael Celia on drums, vibraphone, and Wurlitzer, alongside a steady instrumental backdrop provided by Aquiles "Lito" Magaña on guitar, Steve Haney on percussion, and Josh Wiener on bass. This collective of original and new Bombillas members brings back their eclectic sound and inspirations.

Tyler, The Creator

Cherry Bomb - 10th Anniversary Edition

Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Schoolboy Q are among the big guests on 'Cherry Bomb'. It is practically an all-caps homage to Pharrell's funk-rock vanity project, trading in the grayscale of his angst to explore the technicolour corners of his quirkiness.

The Odd Future frontman is at his most indecisive, swerving from high-decibel ear assaults ('Deathcamp,' 'Pilot') to sugary, saxophone-laced cuddle tunes ('Find Your Wings,' (expletive) 'Young / Perfect'). He makes the obligatory rap muscle-flexing feel like recess, hopscotching through Galaga blips with Schoolboy Q ('The Brown Stains of Darkeese Latifah Part 6-12 (Remix)') and playing lyrical hot potato with Kanye West and Lil Wayne ('Smuckers').

It takes patience to tag along, but hearing Tyler abandon shock for shock's sake to explore other sides of his oddness is a sign he's less interested in being rap's Quentin Tarantino, and more its Wes Anderson.

Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine

Worry Bomb - 2025 Remaster

Formed in 1987 by Fruitbat and Jim Bob, Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine burst onto the scene with their signature style of punk-pop infused with samples, drum machines, and social commentary.Released in 1995, 'Worry Bomb' was Carter USM's ffth album and their fourth in a row to break into the top ten of the UK album charts.

It would also be the frst to feature their new drummer, Wez, marking a shift away from the famous drum machine sound. The album mixed things up musically, balancing mellow acoustic tracks like 'My Defeatist Attitude' with Carter's signature high-energy indie rock, including 'Let's Get Tattoos' and The Young Offenders Mum which both hit the UK top 40.

To mark the 30th anniversary of the album, 'Worry Bomb' is reissued for the frst time. Baba Ali

Laugh Like A Bomb

Having previously collaborated with Al Doyle (LCD Soundsystem/Hot Chip) on their debut album, this time the duo absconded to Doyle’s studio in his own touring absence and took to production duties themselves. Laugh Like A Bomb was recorded in just three weeks before being mixed by Sheffield producer Ross Orton (Working Men’s Club / Arctic Monkeys / MIA).

“I think a lot of the process of writing this album came from pushing ourselves to our limits to get to the essential idea, and discarding anything that felt superfluous or unnecessary.” explains Baba. “There was a lot of writing, re-writing, deleting, re-recording and then just repeating that process again. A lot of times the best idea would come out of that final push when you’re too exhausted to even think and you rely on feeling.”

Returning following the release of their debut ‘Memory Device’ in 2020 and 18 months of touring across Europe and the US with the likes of Yard Act and Chk Chk Chk, Baba Ali have created an incendiary follow up with one foot firmly placed on the dance floor, the other in a state of constant frenzy. Laugh Like A Bomb showcases anxious synths and scratchy guitars that collide with concrete drum hits, pulsing bass and Baba’s snarly vocals in 40 minute collection that explores feelings of unease, abandon and desire as well explorations into the more sinister.

STAFF COMMENTS

Blossoms

Ribbon Around The Bomb

Ribbon Around The Bomb is the first new music from Blossoms since their ‘vibrant single’ (NME) Care For, which was released in 2021.

Speaking about the new album and single, Blossoms’ Tom Ogden says:
‘While on tour in 2019 in Mexico, I visited Frida Kahlo’s house. Looking at her paintings on show, someone had described one of them as being like a ‘ribbon around a bomb’. I immediately thought that it was a great title for a song and album because of the imagery that it evoked in my mind. I thought about how lots of things in life could be described as being a ribbon around a bomb in the sense that as people we often dress things up which have a darkness lying beneath them’.

The band’s new album is produced by their consistent and renowned collaborators James Skelly and Rich Turvey and revolves around a central character ‘The Writer’.

Tom Ogden explains:

"The more songs I wrote, the more I realised that the writer referenced in the songs was in fact me. Having been so busy for the past eight years I and the band have never really had the chance to step back and reflect on what we’ve achieved. You’re so focused on the future; write the next album then tour. Your life is usually mapped out at least two years in advance".

Standout tracks on the record include Ode To NYC, described by Tom as ‘a love letter to my favourite city, as well as my wife’, The Writer which deals with the fear of and frustration associated with writers block and Everything About You, one of the album’s only love songs, which Tom says is ‘as honest as they come’. Visions meanwhile contains one of the album’s key lyrics ‘Was I complete at 23’, as Tom explains. ’At 23 I had just had a number 1 album and begun my relationship with my now wife Katie. Reflecting on what I’d achieved at such a young age left me wondering, what now?’

STAFF COMMENTS

Barry says: Blossoms are back! Stockport's favourite export bring with them all the vim of their 2020 hit, 'Foolish Loving Spaces' and expand into even more neon-tinged electronic realms. It's as bold as anything they've done, but perfectly in keeping with their keen grasp of melodicism and pop progressions.

Bombino

Live In Amsterdam

Niger-born Tuareg guitar virtuoso Bombino releases his firstever live album as a solo artist. Recorded in November of 2019 while Bombino and his band were touring behind his acclaimed latest studio album ‘Deran’, ‘Live In Amsterdam’ showcases Bombino’s rich musical palette, as he and his internationally renowned band seamlessly blend folk, rock, blues, funk and, most uniquely, the ‘Tuareggae’ subgenre which Bombino and his band pioneered. In addition to his regular band, this performance features special guests and Bombino’s cousins, Nigerian singer/actress Toulou Kiki as well as Anana Harouna of Kel Assouf.

‘Live In Amsterdam’ follows his 2018 release ‘Deran’, which earned Bombino career-best reviews, including a major New York Times profile, features with All Things Considered, NPR Music, Billboard and more. Noisey went as far as to declare him “World’s Best Guitarist™.” The album also received a Grammy nod for Best World Music Album, making Bombino the first-ever artist from Niger to receive a Grammy nomination.

Alice Boman

Dream On

A deeply textural, atmospheric and immersive sounding record.

Alice Boman’s fragile yet engulfing ethereal vocals create a vortex that listeners are sucked in by. A world where ambient, dream pop and folk merge into a unique new form.

Produced by Fabian Prynn (EX:RE, Ghostpoet, Dan Croll) and Patrik Berger (Robyn, Charlie XCX, Icona Pop and Santigold).

STAFF COMMENTS

Barry says: While the progressions here may hark back to 60's soul and doo-wop, Boman's vocals are very much down the Hope Sandoval dream-pop line. Slightly melancholic but constantly immersive and warmingly nostalgic throughout.

Black Bombaim

Zone Of Resident Bodies

Cardinal Fuzz and Lovers & Lollipops are proud to bring to you the new magnum opus from Black Bombaim titled 'Zone Of Resident Bodies'. Black Bombaim approached their latest creation with the mindset of pushing the boundaries of their musicianship by working with three different electronic composers in three unique recording settings -an old workers auditorium, a huge empty space on the postal office building and on a reverberation room on the university of engineering. Working with Jonathan Saldanha, Luís Fernandes, Pedro Augusto helped Black Bombaim break free of the constraints of a band in a recording studio as each new recording environment and composer brought new textures and ambiance to the music created. It really is rather special to hear.

“this is an amazing album of collaborations that I am sure has taken the participants outside of their respective comfort zones to produce a set that is innovative and explorative. You really will need to hear it all to fully appreciate its strength and breadth because it is outside those zones of familiarity where true expression can flourish… and flourish it certainly does here.” Psych Insight.

Candy Bomber

Volume 1

The Candy Bomber sessions were spearheaded by Paul Lemp, co-owner of the studio of the same name, theatre, film and dance composer, and impassioned bass player. The sessions were his dream project of free-spirited experimentation into which he injected his boundless energy, teaming up with Thomas Wydler (drummer and longest serving member of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds) and studio partner Ingo Krauss (Conny Plank's studio engineer between 1987 and 2001) to form a core triumvirate that spiralled outwards to bring in a who's who of talented friends and studio visitors. In this volume these include Kid Congo Powers, Swiss jazz pianist Stefan Rusconi, Jochen Arbeit (Einstürzende Neubauten/Automat), Gemma Ray, Toby Dammit (Iggy Pop/Nick Cave), André Vida, Toni Kater, Charly Birkenhauer, Paul Kuchenbuch and Matthew Styles .

Built during the Nazi era, the building which houses Candy Bomber was once the largest in the world. (A Julian Montague impression of the building’s facade adorns the album cover). In 1948/49 it served as the hub for the Berlin airlift when the allied forces flew over 200,000 flights supplying the Western part of the city with daily necessities. The airlift also provided the name for the studio, which set up shop in rooms that previously hosted a computing centre for the CIA. The studio is now legendary in Berlin, not least for its enviable collection of vintage valve gear. With this at their disposal, Lemp, Krauss and Wydler established an environment for sessions that were organic, pressure-free and, more or less, agenda-less. The end result is sonic art unimpeded - a wild cocktail of originality, intensity, beauty, sincerity, and stunning freeform musicianship - underscored by a Dada-ist playfulness and motivating force. But this is not a work of chin-stroking abstraction. Here you will hear some of the coolest jams, ones that will peel your face off.

Tragically, Paul Lemp died prematurely and unexpectedly in summer 2015, before the Candy Bomber sessions were finished. Krauss and Wydler finished the record shortly after, and despite his passing (and as the Vol. 1 of the title suggests) - intend to continue them in his honour.

Alice Boman

EP II

Alternative pop / folk.

Second release on new London label Happy Death.

Alice Boman’s voice hits with the emotional force and haunting fragility of Nina Simone.

Recorded in a cabin in the woods near her home town of Malmö, Sweden.

Boman has a penchant for creating beauty through simplicity, her lyrics are direct and incredibly revealing.

“Muffled microphones and ghostly vocals… racked with an unplaceable nostalgia” - The Guardian

“Alice Boman’s voice wavers between ethereal and ghostly, but its fragility doesn’t limit the force of her songs” - The Huffington Post

For fans of Stina Nordenstam and Joanna Newsom.

Black Bombaim

Saturdays And Space Travels

THIS IS A RECORD STORE DAY 2014 EXCLUSIVE, LIMITED TO ONE PER PERSON.

"Black Bombaim is the most notable band to come out of Portugal to grace the stoner rock scene.

Barcelos, the small Portuguese market town, where the trio of Ricardo (guitar), Senra (drums) and Tojo (bass) homed their craft, is more widely recognized for its famous pottery and the Barcelos Cockerel than it is for its blistering heavy heathen onslaught.

‘Saturdays and Space Travels’ the bands first full length, vinyl only double sided LP release, clocks in at 39 minutes and 24 seconds however, instead of being comprised as individual tracks, the release is instead made up of two separate instrumental, hard-hitting blistering licks, that have been locked in a cage of ear-shattering feedback.

‘Side A’, at 19 minutes and 47 seconds (as is ‘Side B’) sees the trio unleash their complex sound upon the listener. Beginning with a hazy, wall of sound, made famous by 60’s space-rock icons Hawkwind, the track gradually builds into a trance-inducing, repetitive and sluggish metal ascendancy, with the occasional trip into space.

While ‘Side B’ continues to be more of the same, due to the length of both individual tracks it may be advised to be listened to in broken down segments rather than in one fail swoop.

That said, the blend of sluggish metal and hazy space-rock works well and with this release Black Bombaim have set down the marker for fellow Portuguese stoner rock band to beat." (ChybuccaSounds.com)

The Smiths

Louder Than Bombs - Remastered

This was initially an America-only release, combining all the non-album singles The Smiths had released up until that point. It's "Hatful Of Hollow" (without the BBC stuff) and "The World Won't Listen" combined and beautifully sequenced onto what was originally a lovely double album. There was one new 3 track twelve-inch released after "World" in England though: "Sheila Take A Bow" and its superior b-sides "Is It Really So Strange?" and "Sweet And Tender Hooligan" are on "Louder Than Bombs", as is an ever so slightly different mix of "You Just Haven't Earnt It Yet, Baby". U.K fans didn't need this record, but we all bought it anyway, for the sleeve and the sequencing. Sad but true!

Black Lips

We Did Not Know The Forest Spirit Made The Flowers Grow

The Black Lips take "Back From The Grave" style garage punk frenzy to such extremes of slavering cacophony that they border on experimental noise rock at times. This is their fabulous second album from 2004.

Extradition Order

Since The Bomb Dropped

In 2008 I Blame The Parents Records launched to release the debut 7" by Extradition Order. 17 CD's and one 7" by other artists later it's time for the debut album from Extradition Order. "Since The Bomb Dropped" shows a huge progression – garage rock is there but joined by folk tales, Phil Spector lite pop romances and even a Hot Chip style clatter funk gem ("Matches Meet Petrol"). Indie but ambitious.

Flipper

Sex Bomb Baby!

Originally released in 1987, "Sex Bomb Baby" is actually a collection of Flipper material dated no later than 1982, comprised of singles, B-sides, and compilation tracks. The single version of "Sex Bomb" is an all-out classic, a frenetic, yelping punk answer to "Louie, Louie" and the rest is no slouch either - outrageous, harsh, sludge-punk from San Francisco's finest.

The Arm

He Builds Bombs

West Midlands math-rock trio The Arm return with this four track EP hot on the heels of their acclaimed debut on Speedowax. On "He Builds Bombs", The Arm have stepped up the intensity with a relentless assault of frenzied rhythms, razor-edged guitars and acid-damaged electronica.

Mad Parade

Bombs And The Bible

Reformed and back to their primitive best Mad Parade were once one of the "heavy hitters" of the early 80's Southern California Punk scene. "Bombs And The Bible" is their most aggressive, angry and blistering punk rock recording for years. Forget about the poor quality of the insert this is genuine old skool punk.

Blueline Medic

Text Bomb

Blueline Medic formed in Melbourne, Australia in mid 1999 out of the ashes of post-punk pioneers Caustic Soda. Since the formation, the band has released an EP, a full length and most recently a four way split with Midtown, Recover and Silent Corporation. They've moved to a more antipodean version of emocore and "Text_Bomb" is their best work to date.

The The

Mind Bomb

Digitally remastered version of this 1989 album. Nicely packaged in a limited edition slip case.

Sahara Hotnights

Jennie Bomb

Swedish punk grrls with 12 slices of rock'n'roll action.
