Primal Scream

Beautiful Future

"Beautiful Future" is Primal Scream's tenth album release and their first for B-Unique. As you would expect from one of Britain's most exciting and inventive bands "Beautiful Future" displays a heady mix of genre crunching taking in Philly soul, dark electro, accelerated rock n roll riffs and pure British pop all given that particular Scream edge. Highlights include the single "Can't Go Back", which is the kind of high energy rock n roll the band excel at, all kinetic drum beats and scuzzy guitar riffs, everything moving at methamphetamine rate. Elsewhere, there's a duet with CSS' Lovefoxxx, "I Love To Hurt (You Love To Be Hurt)" that's full of shivering electro pulses and tense, claustrophobic rhythms. Lovefoxx isn't the only guest to appear on the album, joining Bobby on a duet of Fleetwood Mac's "Over And Over" is legendary British folk singer Linda Thompson, while Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme contributes guitar to the album's closing track "Necro Hex Blues".

    The Twang

    Two Lovers

"Two Lovers" is rightly regarded as one of the standout tracks on debut album "Love It When I Feel Like This" with NME proclaiming 'witness (singer Phil) Etheridge's dewy vocal and experience your spine shake' on this 'excellent, jangly, Smiths style ballad'.

      Alterkicks

      On A Holiday

The band were one of the North West's best kept secrets with shows around their adopted home town of Liverpool being guaranteed sell outs alongside their massively successful 'Little Big Man' club nights in the city. Two well received independent singles in the form of "Do Everything I Taught You" and "Oh Honey" saw the regional story break through to national attention with fans including Radio One's Zane Lowe and The Fly heralding the band as ones to watch. "On A Holiday" follows those independent releases by welding an upbeat tune to a more sinister lyric.

        Kaiser Chiefs

        Employment

The hugely anticipated debut album from one of the most hotly tipped bands around at the moment, hot on the heels of two great pop singles: "I Predict A Riot" and "Oh My God". Fans of their releases so far won't be disappointed the album ebbs and flows nicely between jaunty energetic pop reminiscent of Super Furry Animals quirky pop, and gentler more reflective moments.

          Aqualung

          Aqualung

Aqualung is one Matt Hales and you may know him (unfortunately) through the new VW Beetle advert and the aptly-titled "Strange And Beautiful". Doleful, plaintive pianos combine with electronic atmospherics that wouldn't be our of place on 4AD's This Mortal Coil albums. There's echoes of Coldplay (without the bombast) or even Radiohead's nursery rhyme - pretty ballads. It's sad and lovely stuff.

            Leaves

            Race

Second single from Icelandic five piece Leaves. Another great single, with similar guitar sounds to their previous single, but a much bigger, more anthemic song.
