'Major Minor' is the new album from Andromedae, the stellar duo of George Vjestica (Nick Cave / Bandante) and Dan Donovan (Big Audio Dynamite / Dreadzone). This spellbinding suite sees the duo working through a series of bold, tectonic ambient excursions that feel both wonderfully immersive and finely crafted. There are pieces here that drift and soar, with paddling arpeggios (more than a little reminiscent of the best parts of Berlin school minimalism) setting the scene beautifully before waves of crashing ambience and industrial saturation take you somewhere else.
The perceptible lift of the more tenative melodic pieces here also reinforce the otherworldly astral depths of the more intense excursions, with the deepest parts sounding not unlike the furthest reaches of cold, desolate space.
