Shell Company Feat. Richie Culver & LINTD

Locket

Shell Company featuring Richie Culver, LINTD, Older Brother. Full artwork sleeves & label design by Ciaran Birch ///

Hazy & dark contemporary pop from Shell Company, drenched in spoken word dreamscapes...

Manchester / Glasgow trio Shell Company debut on Accidental Meetings with a record of dark hued, noise pop adjacent pieces. The trio is spearheaded by poet Rosabella Allen, whose misted balladry pierces through the textured backdrops of Chris and Rob Banks, all three complimenting and melding perfectly.

Following stand out releases for Glasgow imprint Numbers, and Rainy Miller's Fixed Abode, Locket sees the band push the boat out for AM which sees them unite with fellow collaborators Richie Culver & LINTD on the project. A deeply personal record that fuses fractured electronics, post-rock and spoken word, with the end product being a damp, noir masterpiece.

STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: More shadow-lurking synth-pop-noir from this alluring and elusive trio. Cementing the outsider arts of Glasgow and Manchester via bleak, reverb drenched synthscapes and abstract word play.

I Jahbar, G Sudden, Buddy Don & RDL Shellah representing Portmore, Jamaica's DUPPY GUN meet Lyon's Warzou, where each vocalist tee up a track off Warzou's mutant inspirations of the 94' Corduroy Riddim.

Cooked up at Record Studio Congos in Portmore, the Duppy vocalists go to town on the pressured & twisted dancehall excursions, referencing one of the most important riddims of the 90s. The DG collective have been making waves over the past two decades and this recent collaboration is another inter-continental link up of the highest order.

The meeting of the two finds it's home on Bristol imprint, Accidental Meetings.

STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: Ruuuuuude future-dancehall bizniss here. Hard not to pop a cheeky twerk out to these joints. They've collectively put a smile across the Piccadilly Recs workforce that few releases can! Perfect for injecting some fun, but also some serious body kinetics, into the dance.

James Massiah Meets Lord Tusk

Might Be The One

Limited Press, full sleeve & centre label design by Ciaran Birch. Mastered by Beau @ 1087 Studios.

The Babyfather members have been on a roll recently, and this one is no different. Following 24's single 'Open Up' for Accidental Meetings, Tusk & Massiah link up once again on the Bristol imprint.

Lord Tusk serves up a killer beat on Might Be The One, a raw and breezy stepper with Tusk's trademark drums and synth work sprinkled all over. With it's tempo coming in on the slightly quicker side for the dance floor, James Massiah's flow is perfect as per to meet it, ice cold delivery from the London poet with sharp verses and lyric work. Another gem from two of London's finest.

STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: Pure London vibes from Dean Blunt collaborators James Massiah and Lord Tusk with a fiery 7" that nods to grime and dubstep with its urban rhythms and stream-of-consciousness flow.
