About this item
Optimo Trax is an offshoot label of Optimo Music for tracks aimed at DJs/dancefloors. Optimo Trax will release music by new artists and excavate forgotten classics. L/F/D/M is from London and studied art with Dom from Factory Floor, who encouraged him to work on music production. But his musical influences range from jazz, exotica, afrobeat, disco, post punk – you name it. “I guess all the music you soak up just filters through one way or another. Music production is often about exploiting chance and about decisions made in that moment. I'm always trying to reach that magic point where you can remove yourself from what you're making, and the music starts to trigger an emotion rather than just being blocks of colour on a computer.” – L/F/D/M
Well, he's certainly on the right paths as this debut EP shows. Analogue / modular acid goodness but with a touch of class elevating it above the plethora of acid wannabees. "Circuit" is the real money shot; robotic, tough and industrial but with grooves and a depth to get truly lost in. "Exile In The 9th" also deserves a mention - it being the first sine tone lullaby I've come across. Distortion meets harmony in perfect synchronicity. A future classic, number 1 in the series. Move quick...
Matt says: Optimo kick off an essential new series. The acid resurgence continues with this debut from L/F/D/M. Anyone who bought the new Factory Floor album needs this in their life NOW!
