About this item

Often compared to Fairport Convention, the Trees were a prog band with folk leanings as opposed to Fairport's more traditional folk approach. This, their debut album is something of a minor classic. Their version of "Great Selchie Of Shule Skerry" (here entitled "The Great Silkie") is a song popularised by Judy Collins and Joan Baez - Celia Humphris showcases her fine, clear voice and this is still one of the best folk-rock albums of the early 1970s.
