About this item
Unearthered during a recent warehouse excavation in Chicago. Copies of Jamal Moss' seminal yet criminally under-the-radar edit series, Members Only, reach the shop again. Fifteen records, made loosely in tribute to Ron Hardy's Muzic Box, that took the edit blueprint and well and truly shermed it into oblivion. Recorded direct to VHS for extra crunch, the series dropped uncompromising leftfield dance bombs, from Propaganda to Chantel Curtis, all mangled and tweaked with Jamal's keen ear. On side-A we have a reworking of Chantal Curtis "Get Another Love", which is has to be said, is absolutely awesome. A totally ace reworking, sounds like some mad underwater disco weirdness with Jamal extending the intro before letting that seductive vocal drop. The VHS recording adds some warbling, aquatic element that sounds beguiling yet seductive. On side-B The Broads "Sing Sing Sing" gets a going over and again in proper Muzic Box style, utilizing the same warbler that fucked up Chantell Curtis on the flip and extended all the percussive bridges for maximum dancefloor enjoyment. Top stuff! Fresh copies of this seminal series, available for probably the last time. Don't sleep!
Matt says: Last chance saloon! No. 10 might be the most universally celebrated one yet, taking Chantel Curtis' deep disco classic "Give It All My Love" and submerging it in warbling, VHS saturation. As heard in countless KP DJ sets!
