About this item

Laakso formed in the Swedish university town of Uppsala through a mutual love of melody, Gun Club, German Krautrock, Neil Young and rich Finnish girls. Founding members Markus Krunegard & David Nygard began writing songs in Finnish and decided on the name Laakso, due to David's parents and Markus' mother all coming from the Finnish town of Tornionjokilaakso.... with Laakso meaning Valley. Moving to Stockholm brought new friends in The Concretes, a love affair between Laakso and producer Jari Haalpalainen (Ed Harcourt / The Concretes) and a decision to write an album in English. They recorded their album in a week in the cold of a Stockholm winter with a little help from Maria, guitarist in The Concretes & acclaimed Swedish troubadour Nicolai Dunger. The result - An album of Arcade Fire-tinged epic beauty with nods to The Flaming Lips and "Born To Run" era Springsteen. This limited edition 7" is the first taster from the album.
