About this item

The freshly minted 45 Jams imprint serve up a split 7" of Q-Tip related cool this week, taking us way back to the last millennium. Children Of Zeus inspiration and exceptionally deep dude Raphael Saadiq first released "Get Involved" back in 1999, treating the better served dance floors to a slick and sultry slice of jazz-flecked, funk-tinged soul, lent a little extra hip hop heat thanks to contributions from Q-Tip. Here is comes backed by another stone cold classic from the New York MC, "Vivrant Thing" - a cut first featured on the flipside of the Tribe Called Quest member's much more celebrated "Breathe Don't Stop" single. It's a little more stripped back than the A-side, with Q-Tip delivering his distinctive flows over a crunchy and fuzzy, Jay Dee produced backing track crafted from samples of Love Unlimited Orchestra's "I Wanna Stay."

Patrick says: If you're a fan of the jazzy end of the hip hop spectrum, then this 7" is for you! On the A-side Raphael Saadiq and Q-Tip get super soulful for "Get Involved", while Q-tip's "Vivrant Thing" is as good as anything he dropped with A Tribe Called Quest.
