About this item
T-Connection's demolition ball disco classic, "Do What You Wanna Do" gets reworked by no other than Moplen on this tasty 12" for Dutch label High Fashion Music.
T-Connection migrated to Miami from the Bahamas when they signed to TK Disco and released this certified bomb in 1977. Italian powerhouse Moplen, whose releases on Lumberjacks in Hell & GAMM, amongst others, have garnered him a loyal following; gets invited to offer up two reworkings of this original track, each spread lavishly across a side of wax.
Taking both the vocal and dub versions, Moplen's deft touch remains sympathetic to the dancefloor throughout, yet somehow injects a brand new energy into this tried-and-tested dancefloor filler that'll have you grabbing it over the original version for at least the next 5 years! How he's bolstered and crisped up them drums is anyone's guess, and the whole mix seems to breath more space, with all the fine details in the recesses coming out to play. A triumph! His dub version plays with the instrumental stems, adding flurries of sparkly keys, funky AF clavs and rampant perc lines, a truly spellbinding 9 minute instrumental disco odyssey!
