About this item
After unleashing the label's most notorious floor filler back in 2015 (that's "Renee Running" under his Dude Energy alias), Diego Herrera returns to Animals Dancing here, indulging in a little deep house creativity under his usually ambient Suzanne Kraft moniker. Presumably acknowledging his contribution to their project, the label dress this one in a shiny-ass space suit and beam it directly to DJs throughout the galaxy, bringing peace, love, harmony and hedonism to one and all.
The titular "Slam" slinks around between deep house, machine funk and broken beat, weaving a wriggly little jazz bassline around DX9 vamps and a typically hyperactive drum program. It's a little like FP's "People's Potential" and an '09 Theo B-side took designer drugs and woke up in Shibuya, 2049. Moving to the flip, "Group Time Hate That" heats up the B1, bringing stuttering percussion, a nagging and gnarled bass sequence and plenty of druggy intensity. Driving and direct with a little hint of new beat spicing the pot, this one is gonna have the club rushing in unison. Finally, "More Desire" is a classy and cool fusion of deep house keys, rapid fire cymbals and a wicked electro bassline, the audio embodiment of a late night journey on a bullet train.
