About this item
Following the fast-moving first EP, comes the second offering in this series of floor-friendly re-rubs from Mom & Pops' collection. UK upstart Simba rinses the racks for 4 bona-fide underground classics. We're in the rollerdisco on the A-side as Simba laces a jazz funk classic with a whole load of house heat on the A1, then works his scalpel on Tom Browne's sleazy funk bomb 'Thighs High'. Skip to the flip and Simba scales back on the ecological / anticapitalist message in Howard Kenney's '78 disco-soul smasher "Save Some For The Children", letting the squelching B-line ride under a hypnotic vocal loop. Last but not least, Simba serves up Latin jazz-funk realness with the samba tinged B2, a feel good slice of sunshine for the more soulful DJs and dancers out there.
Dig in for time machine tear-ups from the golden era, as likely to be heard on Mom & Pop's turntable as they were rattling the cones on the home-made block party stacks or basement sound systems. 100% DJ material - and available in VERY short supply...you snooze, you lose !
Sil says: Worth ep just for the cracking Tom Browne looped and relooped funky sample and heavily bathed in the good ole filter effect! The other three cuts are as funky as it gets. Buy on sight!
