The album feels like a startling departure from Thorpe’s previous work with Wild Beast. Story-telling, imaginative dynamics and arrangements coincide with a deft and unique vocal prowess. Comparisons could be drawn with Manchester's Dutch Uncles, or even the quirky & eccentric delivery of Calvin Johnson but really, Hayden's conveying emotions and feels all of his own.
