About this item

Written almost 40 years ago by the legendary Sistser Audrey, ‘English Girl’ was one of the first songs recorded at the then new ARIWA Studios in Gautrey Road in Peckham and was originally released on Jah Shakas label after the overwhelming response to the track at dances. This release was one of several Shaka/ARIWA partnership releases from the 1980’s and this re-issue is both historical and topical. Now in 2018 the song is re-emerging as the theme of the Windrush Generation, especially with the lyric ‘’now 40 years later, we must go back and get some papers’’. Considered a Reggae Roots classic this record really does deliver Reggae Gold.
