About this item

Between 91 and 94, Rick Lenoir and Larry Thompson's Black Traxx alias dropped several volumes of disco chopping deep house, successfully capturing the rawness of their Chicago elders' releases. Lenoir, with the technical assistance of Gary 'Jackmaster' Wallace has revisited these classic releases for 2017 and the pair have turned in some special, exclusive extended versions of some of the highlights from the series.
Kicking off the first Black Traxx sampler is 'Climaxx', a stripped back, slow burning acid cut with more than a similarity to 'French Kiss' (check out that slow down folks!) Far from a copycat, 'Climaxx' is it's own beast, a truly atmospheric track that tweaks in all the right places! 'Doctor's Housecall' is up next, cutting First Choice disco burner 'Doctor Love' with a jacking drum groove to turn the dancefloor inside out. Undoubtedly a nod to the legendary Ron Hardy and his mythical Muzic Box club, this one hits the spot.
Flip it and the B1 brings a new version of "Your Mind Is So Crazy", a pumping, breakbeat laced party starter currently getting plenty of love from our Kickin' Pigeon. Vocal samples, synths vamps and swinging drums all collide to form a real peak-time monster in true 90s style! Finally "Retrospace" brings volume 1 to a close, melding Chicago house, breakbeat and bleeps into a proper heads down roller. If you dig the sounds that emanated from Sheffield way back when or the you're into the early days of hardcore then this is the cut for you. An all killer no filler affair, this classic material is bang on trend for the current dancefloor - bang it out!
