About this item
After setting up the mighty Mix Records twenty five years ago in Detroit Michigan, Black Baxter reboots his esteemed imprint with his latest EP "Machines". The first vinyl release on Mix in almost a decade sees Baxter unleash a trio of unpredictable percussion killers composed on Roland's 808,909 and 35 respectively. The skeletal jack of "TR808" rhythm opens the set in classic Chi-town style, rocking our socks off with harsh snaps and the legendary ping of the 808 cowbell, before "TR909 Rhythm (Shuffle To Acid Mix)" launches a corrosive acid assault on the speakers, slapping a vicious 303 underneath a stripped back drum program. Finally, "TR-35 Rhythm" offers us some techno intensity, via nagging sequences and clashing percussion. This is that raw old school shit from an original innovator.
