About this item

Released in April 1984, 'The Top' was The Cure's transitional record from their darker, dare I say Gothier past, towards the pure pop of ''Head On The Door'. Robert Smith had spent time in Siouxsie and The Banshees and was apparently quite fond of alternate/enhanced states, so the resultant album is quite playful and experimental whilst still having those dark moods too.

STAFF COMMENTS

Andy says: Gleefully messy pop that features 'The Caterpillar' which was a big radio hit in the early 80's.
