About this item
Prince Buster, originally christened Cecil Bustamente Campbell, was born on May 24th 1938. One time boxer later to still be one of reggae music biggest stars, Prince Buster was with Fab / Melodisc Records throughout the 60s. His rough and raw 1968 "Fabulous Greatest Hits" LP procliamed 'There’s hardly a man woman or child in Jamaica who doesn’t know the voice of Prince Buster...'. As rocksteady transformed into reggae his work continued to appear only on Fab, until finally the parent label he was signed to gave the ultimate accolade to the artist by starting the Prince Buster label jointly with him. As the 70s rolled in Buster released "Sister Big Stuff", which showcased a more melodic side to his voice, featuring covers of songs like "South Of The Border", "Sata A Masa Gana", "Young, Gifted And Black" and "Bridge Over Troubled Water".
