About this item
When you get to hear a recording like this bursting with exhuberance and vitality, it's plain to see that the English folk tradition is alive and well. Particularly so in the hands of Martin Carthy, John Kirkpatick and the brass section of Howard Evans, Martin Brinsford and Richard Cheetham. Carthy's guitar has never sounded finer, Kirkpatrick's concertina and accordion is masterful and the unique combining of their traditional folk sound with the brass arrangements of the other three has produced an album that is a total joy from beginning to end and the best album Brass Monkey have produced. One of the folk albums of the year.
