About this item
Dan Snaith, the artist formerly known as Manitoba, returns with his first album under new name Caribou after being sued by Handsom Dick Manitoba of The Dictators. His new sound is a logical step up from Manitoba's "Up In Flames" album, drawing on a rich tapestry of Krautrock, psychedelia, acid-folk, rock, pop and hip hop to create a bold, hard yet melodic, modernist avant rock whole. From the carnival-esque whirl of ridiculous melodies, stampeding beats and furiously harmonised vocals of first track "Yeti", to the almost renaissance-style, hip hop-laced blissfully melodic "Lord Leopard" and "Hands First", this is an album where free-spirited musical abandon abounds.
