About this item

The debut album by Sydney band Marlophone is a kaleidoscopic adventure, melding imagination, memory and unfolding futures, and humming to the circuitry of overdriven guitars, digital ghosts and an analog glow.

The band create a universe where flight is literal and metaphorical, where dreams are counted like galaxies, and where flashes of colour expand into widescreen narratives.

Patrick Haid, Saskia Clapton and Nick Kennedy developed their sonic language in various Sydney bands (Ides of Space, Big Heavy Stuff, Knievel) and came together in late 2025 as Marlophone. They refined sketches in practice rooms, before working legendary producer Wayne Connolly to capture their sprawling and fully realised debut.

The sound is immediate and inviting. Built on live performance and human moments, the songs breathe, race and whisper, unconstrained by grids, clicks and digital perfection. Big room drums, feedback washed guitars and singalong harmonies sit alongside intimate moments inviting listeners to slow down and really listen. Contributions by Sarah Blasko, Wayne Connolly and Li-Chuen Wong provide contrast and beauty.
