About this item

Second instalment of Tempa’s Archive series sees D1's "Enigma EP" repressed for maximum subwoofer damage. 8 tracks, originally produced between 2002-2006 that perfectly highlight dubstep and grime's embryonic beginnings. All cheap digital percussion and serious low end pressure. Though composed with basic software and primitive elements, the level of details and sound system dynamics on show is ultimately very impressive; and alongside producer's like Roska, El-B and Scuba; D1 has a very unique, very influential of the UK bass music scene, perfectly encapsulated here across this double disc Tempa release. Pressed two tracks per side for maximum fidelity and headroom. Highly recommended!

STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: One of the early exponents of UK bass presents an archival dig full of embryonic experiments that would go on to inform the global movement. Much like El-B, Zed Bias and DMZ, Loefah etc; D1 is one of UK bass music's core foundations.
