About this item

The collaboration between Mad Professor and Yabby You goes back to the 1993 Ariwa LP In Ariwa Studios, a showcase-format meeting between the Guyanese-born south London studio architect and one of Jamaica's most theologically singular vocalists. Vivian Jackson - the "Jesus Dread," whose work ran from King Tubby's console through Blood and Fire reissues before his death in 2010 - is an unlikely pairing with Ariwa's analogue electronics, but the logic holds: both work in a register of deep, self-determined roots production. Now star track 'Jahovia' lands here as a 12" on ARI 350, with Mad Professor's 'Fake News Dub' on the flip.

STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: Ariwa Sounds continue their prolific reissue campaign with this holy grail digital roots stepper on side A. While the 'Prof gifts us one of his mystic spiritual dubs on side B. Essential!
