The faultless Dark Entries continues to do superb archaeological work here by resurrecting Opera de Nuit, the French coldwave cult act formed in Valreas in 1982, who dropped only three releases, but they all trade for three-digit sums. Across two EPs and a 1988 LP, the band defined the genre with ice-cold synths, jangly guitars and sad sack vocals, all of which can be heard at their best on the desperate 'Annabella,' the moodiness of 'Boris Transylvania Camp' and the larger and more anthemic 'Karen Lloyd.' This first-ever vinyl reissue collects their complete remastered discography across 13 tracks that add up to unmissable stuff for coldwave heads, whether new or old.
