Cast your mind back to 1999 if you will (Or can, hello younger customers!). Radio 1 prime time Friday night tackle... You had Judge Jules, Danny Rampling, Pete Tong, Fabio And Grooverider, Mary Ann Hobbes (actually maybe this was a Monday night) and some pervy cunt who liked hip-hop we won't mention now. 

Then, one legendary evening, Pete Tong hosted 'FATBOY SLIM VS ARMAND VAN HELDEN' - one of the most legendary DJ battles to date. I've still got the treasured C90 tape, recorded live off my mum & dad's stereo. If I remember correctly I had to go to bed halfway through the recording...

Listening back the next day (and the day after, and the day after that, and to be honest, at least once a year since) it was hit after unreleased hit. To go into that tracklisting here would be unneccessary (and it's well documented online) however one of the standout tracks was Fatboy Slim's mashup of "Rockafella Skank" with The Rolling Stones "I Can't Get No". Doing exactly what it says on the tin, it took the lead guitar line from The Stones and, a few of the backing vox and chorus, and mashed it into the breakbeats and breakdowns of the then Fatboy Slim classic. It was released on bootleg the next year (2000) but has never been officially available till now.

Now on one-sided red vinyl, without the House Of Pain and crowd noise at the beginning, it's a truly legendary record and one of the very first 'DJ Mashups', which would then open the floodgates for many more to come (Fatboy himself turning his hand to "Dub Be Good To Me" and a brilliant Eminem one...). 

A true collectors item in our book....

Matt says: A holy grail record for me (no I'm not joking). I was 14 when I first heard this on that fateful night on Radio 1 and I've wanted it on vinyl since. He might have bent us over a barrell with the price, but I guess old FAT-BOY SLIM ('BAND of the 90s' etc) has his sights set on some executive nursing home / bunker business, and who am I to begrudge him such indulgences.
