The Melodies Of Love express takes a sharp turn for its fourth outing. Swapping cocktails by the pool for shady corners, hedonistic encounters, red lights and low ceilings to venture deeper into the late-night zone. Four unshazamable cuts that feel familiar yet utterly elusive with a ‘Balearic but didn’t know it sensibility’.

"Your Face" is an absolute dream house anthem to be that drifts between proto-house and warehouse soul that is accompanied with a long-lost Balearic sensibility. Dubby rhythms lock into a rich melodic groove whilst euphoric horns soar somewhere between Herb Alpert’s "Rise" album and Willie Colóns’ "Set Fire to Me". It’s The kind of record that should have been hammered by Alfredo pre summer of Love on that terrace with a mirrored pyramid.
 
"No Talk" is an atmospheric tropical pop voyage with undeniable Talk Talk DNA coursing through its veins. Imagine Hollis and company touching down at Compass Point Studios for an after-hours jam with Sly & Robbie. Loose-limbed percussion, heavenly guitar lines, drifting horns, shimmering synth stabs and infectious chanting all combine to create something breezy yet hypnotic. A sun-faded, ocean-soaked gem that says plenty without ever needing to speak.

"Its in My Head" is built on a familiar Billie Jean pulse and "It's My Life"-inspired synth work, punchy funk-infused basslines meet dubbed-out atmospherics, fluid layers of rich synthesizers and beautifully melancholic vocals that radiate that unmistakable bittersweet Balearic spirit. Jangling guitar harmonics float through the mix like distant memories. The question remains unanswered: how was this never on Top of the Pops? Pure heartbreak for the dancefloor.

"Talkin Machine" offers a completely unhinged funk-on-roids stick of dynamite fuelled with enough cosmic energy to send the mothership into orbit. Taking a starlit detour on the Godfather of Soul's most famous dancefloor weapon, it's twisted, stretched and rerouted through some seriously wonky cosmic circuitry. Off-kilter rhythms collide with outrageous synth work and a mutant Parliament-style bassline. Equal parts robo-disco, chrome-plated weirdness and pure dancefloor electricity. JB would surely be having cold sweats in his gold-plated casket.

Matt says: Liverpool's Melodies Of Love continue to give Manchester's Talking Drums some viable competition as they bid to out-edit each other in some kind of Balearic-disco heavyweight contest. It's all friendly fire though; a bit like Ronaldo and Messi - when you're this good who cares who wins in the end? PS. Be sure to clock the James Brown-at-the-beach "Talking Machine" - a surefire headturner!
