Debbie Gibson
One Step Ahead - Masters At Work Remixes
About this item
Taken from her 3rd album, "One Step Ahead" was written by Gibson and Lamont Dozier and produced by John Benitez. It was released in 1990 to little fanfare until the then young and upcoming Masters At Work got hold of it. Deploying one of their now-trademark house remixes, it elevated the track into the dance charts both here in the UK and over in the US. Still to this day it's a fine example of the deft skill Louie Vega and Kenny Dope possess. MAW would go on to remix a plethora of highly successful artists over their, also successful career. Much like David Moralles famous 'Def Mix', once you've got your ear in, it's easy to spot a classic MAW remix just off the drums alone!

STAFF COMMENTS
Matt says: Not a massive fan of the sugary sweet Club Mix, but the MAW mixes are summat special indeed. Perfectly deploying the breezy and grooving formular that'd characterize many of their remixes (just check out those DRUMS!!); it's hard to believe this is 35 years old. It still hits harder than half the house music being released today.
