Freerange is gearing up to celebrate 30 years in the game! To start the party, they welcome none other than Soul Clap for their first-ever release on the label. Known for blurring the lines between funk, disco and house with their signature EFUNK sound, the Boston-born duo step into Freerange territory with a rich, groove-laden EP that fuses timeless club energy with emotional depth.

The "Drowning In Your Love EP" features longtime collaborator and magnetic vocalist Shaun J. Wright (Hercules & Love Affair / Classic / Midnight Magic), whose heartfelt delivery and lyrical poise ensure the title track sticks in your head long after the needle has left the record. The trio have created a timeless club track evoking the spirit of the tripped-out sounds of golden-era west coast house — dubby FX, a hint of breaks, soulful vocals, and that unmistakable Soul Clap swing — all put together with a flair that will move any dancefloor worth it’s salt.

Next up we have a stripped back, percussive beats tool built for the DJs. Here on the "Storm Drums Mix", the groove remains front and centre, offering maximum mix flexibility and raw drum power for peak-time creativity.

Flipping over we have the second of two originals – "EFUNK Anthem (The Funk Mix)". Raw, jackin’, and drenched in Chicago influence and attitude; pure dancefloor fire merging classic hardware grit with that signature playful funk that only Soul Clap can deliver. On "The Stripped Mix" things get a bit deeper and moodier, pulling back the layers to reveal a hypnotic bassline, Detroit chords and smoky late-night textures and FX. Closing out the EP we have a mesmerizing DJ tool in the form of Drowning In Your Love (Wind-Appella)" - all atmospheric noise FX and Wright’s haunting vocals, the perfect tension-builder or outro moment. Soul Clap’s debut on Freerange shows the duo flexing both their soulful songwriting and their underground club sensibility bridging generations of house heads and keeping the funk alive.

Matt says: Mad that this is Soul Clap's first excursion on Freerange. I'd have thought the label would have snapped 'em years ago! Oh well, it's been worth the wait: rock solid, terrace tickling deep house pleasure from these house music stalwarts.
