Ok, the follow-up to their incredible debut did dilute things somewhat, but this record re-instated BRMC as one of the best bands around. What’s so exciting is that, in places, they're barely recognisable! Well there's doomy Hammond that does recall Spiritualized, but for the most part this is an acoustic, folk/country/blues record. It's just as powerful and dynamic as their old sound and has a newfound lyrical honesty which simply increases their authenticity. Swapping reverb, buzzing JAMC vibes for the raw sincerity of Dylan (or even Cash) has definitely paid off.

This 20th anniversary edition was remastered at Abbey Road Studios.
