The Bishop 88 imprint launched more than a year ago with a killer debut set of edits, so we're glad they're back for round two, and even gladder the grooves are just as hot. They blend rare groove, jazz and funk across two limited edition jams starting with the hard-hitting 'Don't' driven by Lukas Lindholm's deep, funky basslines and Janne Carlsson's unmistakable drumming. It's soulful, unusual and surprisingly still untouched by samplers. Flip it for 'You Never Come Closer' which is all hypnotic organs, bold brass, and Carlsson's powerhouse rhythms combining into a future-facing sound. Rediscovered through Madlib's Quasimoto track 'Closer' in 2005, it's already proven timeless.
