'This record is a collection of tracks that I have completed over the past year since moving out of London. Side one is inspired by the mid-nineties jungle sound when the music was becoming more stripped back and influenced by hip-hop. Side two expresses my appreciation of the darkside hardcore sound. Growing up in the midlands I was exposed to this era of hardcore and jungle by hearing tapes from promotions such as Amnesia House and Quest. The Eclipse club in Coventry (later the Edge) played a major part in the proliferation of this style which continues to influence many contemporary artists within the rave scene. The samples used in these tracks reflect issues relevant to our current times whilst paying respect to the original architects of the hardcore and jungle sound.'

Yes yes, another top tier breakbeat manipulator enters the fold with the kind of high octane ruffage usually associated with DJ Absolutely Shit, Coco Bryce or Tim Reaper. Mangled drum patterns, vintage rave samples, pummeling subs and tons of hoovers, horns and whathaveyer bringing that classic hardcore energy! There's a high degree of technical skill on show throughout, Freegroove clearly knows his way around the s1000 (or Renoise or whatever producers these days use to splice their beats!); and the tracks a beautifully constructed with a real sense of urgency.

Definitely one to watch if you're a fan of modern jungle and hardcore.
